I just heard back from IDC and was told that the program is on hold for at least 30 days, could be 60 or even 90 days. They have no idea. I was told that I can find a school on my own, or wait until they get back to me.

What a welcome the trucking industry!!! I am so furious I think that I am going to just cry!

We just got our call, too. Looks like we're going to school here....they had done the footwork and found a school here and contacted them for us. There next class starts on the 21st, which is perfect, except we have airline tickets already purchased to go visit family in NY for that week.

I'm going to call the school and see if we can start a week later.....

Hope it works out for you, Sassy. Let me know what you're going to do. Good Luck!

We have a school here, the problem is that we don't have $4100 each to pay for the classes.

Yep, I just called the school here and it's $5295. I'm sweating bullets right now....don't know what to do.

Wish I could think of something to cheer you up.. :biggrin_25524:

I paid for my own school in December and it cost me dearly. I was told that most students get pre employment letters before they finish, and the company would reimburse me. I sent my IDC app in the middle of Dec.. didn't hear, didn't hear...figured it had something to do with the holidays. Then I heard the rumor. Major drag!

Seems to me that IDC is shooting themselves in the foot, not hiring for 1-3 months. They're going to miss out on lots of great potential drivers for a long time to come.

    HG

I am just so mad that I could...well I don't know what I could do but I know it would be bad!

We have decided to go talk to the Texas Workforce Commission and see what we can do. I called them this afternoon and they have an information session every Monday at 3:30p so we will be there next week.

We are also looking at going with another company. We really want to train together so maybe Covenant? I don't really want to do that but it is a back up plan. We had also looked at CR England but they don't allow pets unless you are an o/o and that is not an option we want to take. This is just so frustrating.

I am guessing IDC must have gotten themselves into some big trouble. I mean you don't just get audited like this out of the blue over nothing and have to put a hold for maybe 90 days. I am just guessing here but maybe something with government funding and training. But who knows.

I am not even sure if I want to go with IDC after this, if this is any example of how things go on over there. All I know is that this does not sit well with me.

If worse comes to worse we may just have to wait this out. We can hang on for a month or two, we just don't want to have to. I am still working and can stay as long as I want. Hubby isn't working but we can manage on my salary.

    I will keep you updated!

I expect that there's more than a little truth to that. Wonder what part of the program is the focus of the audit ..just the Tucumcari program? or the entire thing?

You got that straight! Better to know now than after you get in there for a few months.

    Good luck to you.

So are you saying that even when you paid for your own school they are not letting you start? I was told that if we went to school on our own then they would still hire us? I wonder if that is just something else they are telling us just to appease us for the moment?

They told us we can go to school and still have our March 9th start date with them. It seems this must just be auditing the arrangements between them and the school.

Today, I talked to the president of my school and told him what I'd heard. He was going to talk to them. He said he'd call me back by noon tomorrow. We shall see...
