hi all,
I'm thinking of buying this truck. I got dyno report yesterday and showed it to two mechanic's , both gave me two different answers so i'm little bit on the confuse side. One said the coolant temp went too high up to '217' and other said coolant temp is fine but the engine oil temp is rising.
So the concern i have is that Is it normal for Engine Coolant Temp: 217
Also Is it normal for the Engine Oil Temp : 223
The truck specs are:
2009 Pete 387 ,
mileage : 405k
cummins: ISX set at 400hp at this time
3.42 rear ratio
Below i'm attaching dyno report, please take a look at see if it's all normal .
Can someone please look at my Dyno

Get your $ back on the Dyno, 4000 ftlbs of torque? Their Dyno is either messed up bad or the operator does not know what he is doing. Since that # is impossable I would seriously doubt the rest of the #'s.
SHC Thanks this. -
something is wrong with torque figures. Really dyno measure power on wheels, not on flyghtwheel so operator enter rear end and tranny data. It was entered wrong. I sugest not more 1500 LBSFT torq.

Thanks, I spoke to dyno shop today, they said I need to divide torque number with rear ratio to get the torque reading.
What about coolant temp and oil temp? -
torq is like 1311 on the ground not all that bad

I would not be worried about the coolant temp at all. I have had a truck up to 240 degrees F before without damage. It depends on how much air they were moving across the radiator when they made this run. The chassis dyno that I use to run would get the ram air up to about 45 mph. If you were worried about it you could have the wash out the fins on the radiator, I have seen trucks overheat due to them being clogged with debris.
The numbers just don't make sense to me as the rated power should peak at 1800 rpm. -
coolant temp @ 217* with no air across the rad is normal for an ISX, eng fan wont come on until 217-219 on those, and the oil temp will be 10-15* higher than water temp, all those look perfectly normal for a dpf ISX

thanks alot guys, I did show to mechanic today and it all looks good, i did check out the truck and looks and drives good, so most likely i'll go ahead with the purchase and hopefully things will be okay.

for real torque numbers take torque reading and divide it by the rear end ratio and then add 20 percent my dyno showed torque at 6421.620 divide that by rear end ratio 3.91 which equals 1642.358 plus 20 percent for drive loss actual torque at the rollers is 1970.8296 so i just say 1970 foot pounds of torque. Mine was run on a taylor dyno at Antrim Diesel in Greencastle,Pa. FYI 1994 cat 3406C PEEC Engine (the one everybody says is no good )620 hp at the flywheel and 517 hp to the rollers. Taylor dyno is the same one that PDI has in Cedar City, Utah. Ps also shows 34 pounds of manifold pressure (Boost)My engine has 900000 miles on the last overhaul.

Was thinking it has a 220' thermostat in it?
