Need input from O/O's

I would really appreciate some input from some Owner/Operators. I have been "Involved" in the trucking business pretty much since birth. My Father owned a brokerage in which My Mother and I took care of everything the drivers needed. He always worked with a select group of Owner/Operators who had their own authority of which My Mother and I Dispatched as well as taking care of all the bookkeeping for each individual driver, Road Taxes, Log auditing, and everything else you could possibly think of that a driver would need. Long Story short... When my Father died years ago, my Mother sold the company. Since then I have continued in the Industry, However, Recently a few O/O's I know have talked to me and asked me why I don't go into business. Not as a Broker, but what they are suggesting is that I work direct with O/O's who have their own Authority who simply want to just drive their truck. Sort of like a dispatch service but with all the extra's added. Like Getting them the loads, signing them up with the companies, doing all the paperwork, invoicing, bookkeeping, IFTA, Etc, Etc, Etc...

I've done all these things all of my life and it's always made me wonder why O/O's have to go to so many different companies to get all these services done. I'm seriously pondering the idea and would like to have any input you have to offer. I'm not trying to solicite anything, just seriously wanting to know if you feel this is really something O/O's would go for and need. I have watched for years as O/O's lease on with companies wondering why they dont go independent and am always told the same thing... They just want to drive the truck. So, what do you think? Good idea, or Bad idea? Thanks...

 

Yes, I have had some ask about it and some even beg me to. My Father was in the business since I was born and I really didnt grasp his concept until he died and I entered the "Real Trucking" World. Since I have been in the Outside world I've helped many with all their needs with the two companies I have worked with simply because I just couldnt see them going to numerous companies to do things that only took me minutes. I've learned quickly from them that the main reason they lease on to other companies is simply because they dont want the paperwork headaches yet they quickly realize they still have many things they are required to take care of. In My Fathers company he pretty much did what I am considering doing which is everything they can think of. The only difference is I wouldnt broker. As one driver called it... sort of a Truckers Wife for hire. I'm just asking others advice as to their thoughts for this sort of service before I take the plunge.
