One of the most overlooked expenses of a truck driver is taxes.its one of the highest
So it pays to educate yourself.
I'm not an accountant but I am pretty sure for a company driver,if you take your own
Per diem at the end of the year, you can take the full amount on your schedule A,but can
Only quailfy for the higher of your standard deductions,or per diem, not both.
Why a company reduces a mileage rate if you take per diem per mile,I do not know.
Please explain.if it is for administrative expenses, that is quite pricey for a few clicks on a keyboard.

For a lease driver per diem pays.as it is expensed on the scedule C.as is fuel, tolls etc.
If you run it adds up.

As for maxing out your social security benefits,I'm not sure that is a retirement plan unless you
    Enjoy catfood.
Take a look at a sep 401k if you are an owner op or lease driver.

banks like to see a higher income.....if you take per-diem your w2 income will be 15-17k less..... so by taking per-diem you may not get that house or car

Not entirely true. If you bank with a local bank or most of them for that matter they fully understand what Per Diem is and how to figure it out. It is not a barrier and I have never had a problem. I bought a house when on a per diem job.

I worked for them for a year and loved it, I was on their dg account and averaged 1100 to 1300 per week. I love how huge companies have thousands of drivers and u only see a handfull of drivers post how horrible they are. I love the trucking industry and how people talk out their rears to try and sway people away from something that didnt work for them. Lmao...

Heck I hate USX yet I lasted their almost 7 years. You loved it and lasted a whole mind boggling year? They started doing that DG ded stuff like 9 or 10 years ago and the weekly pay has gone up the astronomical amount of 100 bucks a week. Let me quess, they recruited you strait out of school because you can make that cash driving up and down the interstate and Never unload 3 40k+ trls a week. I mean that DG account was so hard to get on, they had to force DP OTR drivers to cover the loads. Listen I am glad you enjoyed yourself but you can not chocolate coat the turd that is USX and most OTR companies.
