Geesh Marky, have you considered a relief fund? Just show this blog to your recruiter along with a timeline, you are definitely the exception not the rule. For instance, I graduated from a certified school the day before you started this blog. I then waited until Dec 6 before orientation. Even with the holidays, I road tested mid Jan. I have been in my own truck ever since. God bless you Marky and if I see a jar with your picture on it I will drop some change. :^)

Agreed. I had a great trainer that I am still friends with 13 years later. He was on Costco dedicated. It was great being home weekends, he lived across town from me, a pretty regular routine and all, it was pretty gravy. BUT there was quite a bit of the OTR stuff I had to learn the hard way, and some of it was of course under a huge amount of stress. My first solo run was the worst I had to take a doubles load for a trainer that was out of hours in Vegas, his student walked off the truck with no notice so he burned up all of his hours. I had to learn about the weekend planners not quite having their stuff together, had to sit in Mojave CA for several hours while they tried to figure out how to get me fueled. I also had to learn how to Unhook and hook doubles with no clue how to do so. All of this and more under a HUGE time crunch since it was a dedicated time sensitive run. After this and more I got back to Vegas to his first stop 15 minutes late and caught a lot of grief from the powers that be. I learned a lot from my trainer but it wasn't the same as being OTR and learning what all is involved. Good luck and stay safe out there drivers.

Wow str8. Trial by fire huh?
Got a new mentor today. Still in the hotel. Hes from Mississippi and coming from Tennessee. Nice good old boy by the sounds of him. Seems also that he has long hauls, I hope, and hopefully dry van. That way I can get these hours and be done and have my own truck finally. Didn't do the midterm yesterday as they say I can't till I have 110 hours.str8rida Thanks this. -
