I had a load to pick in Paris, TX at the cambells soup company. I go there get loaded and I'm ready to go life is good. First thing i have to do is weight the truck and get fuel. I pull into the shell truck stop next to cambells. Pulling in to the scale first so i know how much fuel to put in since the load weight was a little more then i was told, i weigh the truck go to pull off the scale and pot holes everywhere thought the front end was going to fall apart lol.
I park the truck go in to get my scale ticket and that's when it all went south from there. I go to my truck set the trlr where i needed it and pull up to the fuel isle, go inside tell the nice Indian guy that i have a t-check code and need to start a pump he said ok. He asked me if I'm getting cash back my response was "yeah three to three fifty back". Ok your pump is started i walk up get my fuel walk back in to square away with the guy and I'm twenty dollars short on my cash back. Wtf where my money. So this whole time I'm keeping it cool i ask the guy why I'm short twenty bucks his response was we charge twenty dollars for cash back. Ok, i would be fine with that had he told me this BEFORE i got fuel not AFTER.
So now I'm pissed, he explains to me that he is just the employee and there not his rules. Ok this whole time I'm fighting to understand the guy. So i tell him i wouldn't mind giving him the money had he told me about the charge and i proceeded to fuel there. But since he didn't tell I'm not giving him a thing. If i don't get my money back I'll call the police. He said wait i call owner you talk to him. Ok. I talk to the owner explain to him that had i known about the charge I'd be ok with that since i didn't know I'm not paying you sheet and I'll call the pd. The owner starts to yell now saying call the police i don't care and i don't NEED YOUR KIND.
So now I'm explosively pissed, my kind huh what kind would that be the tax paying kind who works hard and gives so you can get a free bee.
At this time another driver comes in and clearly sees that I'm pissed want to wreck this store. He tells me to call the police so i did. At the same time the clerk calls the other #### sucker to show up. The owner shows up and I'm like great just the guy i wanted to see, the one who doesn't need my kind. But he won't get out of the car and the other driver is talking to me about keeping it cool and not going over there to wreck this dude. So the cop shows up i explain this whole money story to him and had i known about it it wouldn't be a issue, owner gets out of the car talks to the cop and tells him "this my rule i not change for any guy not him or you" now this cop sees why I'm mad and tells him to give me my twenty bucks he tried to scam me for. He does, but tells the cop he doesn't want me to come back like i would EVER go back there again.
I rather run my truck out of fuel and call roadside before i give that sob a dollar again. Now i know some if you might be thinking this driver should have his anger checked or really took this too far. But i see it like this after a tour to Iraq and Afghanistan I'm not coming home to have someone tell me they don't need my kind in my own Country. Is not about the money or like i didn't have it its about his attitude.
With that being said, that's the worst experience i have EVER had at a truck stop.
I apologize for the long post and maybe if you don't agree, well that's fine its only my experience and opinion.
Thanks for reading.

Good for you for standing up for yourself. It would have been much easier to have just walked away. And, thank you for your service. It's people like you that make our country what it is....great.
Petejdrentzjr, Mattchu and Two Stack Rookie Thank this. -
I agree it would of been easier to walk away. But when i get out of my truck there its a sense of pride in standing on the soil I'm standing on and standing up for what i believe in. And thank you sir I'd do it doll over again.

Keeping your cool & calling the police was indeed the right thing to do. Violence would have made them the victim.

And they should have a sign a the register telling you of the FEE to get cash. Or at least tell you when you replied to his query about getting cash back. That place was much better when the Mexican guy was running it.

That place is a dump dump dump. Anytime you need to scale in paris coming out of soup go south 3 red lights and make a right., Valley feed mill is down on the left. Scales right next to building. I wouldn't wish that dump on anybody..

I honestly didn't know. Also there was NO sign stating their rule. Him trying to beat me out of my money was not the reason why I (myself) escaladed this issue. It was his comment of "i don't need your kind" that blew me over the edge.

Thank you for your service and I am glad you stood up to this person. I am glad the cop saw that you was right and not him. It seems everyone is afraid to say anything to them because they do not want to offend them. They come here get a tax free loan and then after 5 years change it to a family and do it again. That is so wrong. Have a great day.

$20 fee for cash back is outrageous. I can understand charging a percentage fee to cash a check or get an advance if but that's usually only 2% and they generally wave that when you fuel.

I remember that place. Glad you told him off. I've seen trucks hit high center in that rats nest. It's bad.
