Beleive me. u wanna talk go see wolfman. the reason they told u they would have to drop ur modulation on the radio bc of the astatic microphone is bc its a sensitive mic. it likes to sqeal and has a tinny tone if not properly matched. the ranger mic however is not sensitive at all. i can almost touch my external speaker with the face of it before it sqeals. I was very pleased with my setup. i came in with a older general lee and left with what sounded like a brand new one. everything was crystal clear and had a good tone to it. yea i had to pay to play but everyone kept asking what kind of radio i had after i left.
Plus they stand behind all their work. how can u argue with? if u have a problem with something take it back and see what they can do for you. i havent had any issues thusfar but felt that they were honest with me. they gave me there card and told me if i had any problems or concerns to fell free to call anytime. Plus they were a christain ministery. had a big cross beside their shop and a big prayer wall full of names. Best of luck trying to find better work

find mike5511 on here he has a guy up that way that works from home that does great work, otherwise ray at rays electronics in west memphis would be my only other choice. just my .02 worthmike5511 Thanks this.

Absolutely......that he makes great coffee as well!
-
I also hear him all over the US no matter where I'm at. Seems like a decent dude. Just wish all the skippers and DX'rs would use another channel besides 19 (There are 20 other channels) to do their sqwauking on.

Not saying he does bad work.....I talked to him yesterday.
He has worked on my stuff before. I just think his prices are on the high side.
The Ranger mic can be had for 20 bucks but he charges about 60...
He does do great bench work. My old Galaxy 44 sounds great after he had it on the bench.
It was one of our other drivers who had his 959 gone through and was told he had to de-tune it for the Astatic.
I have an Astatic on my DX94HP,no problems at all with feedback but every radio is different.
My Ranger mic is a good mic but i use it on a different radio.....i have several. -
Good advice!
