For some awful reason, the 2008 DPF equipped trucks with Series 60's got SUPER loud. WTF.

Yeah it just doesn't make sense to wear earbuds. Just turn up the radio. I see people driving with them in and I am just dumbfounded when I see them.

Yes there is if they are ear buds.. However if you want to ware ear plugs for noise then that is up to you.. No one really wants to say one way or another is you are allowed to protect your ears (like other occupations are allowed) while driving. OSHA told me if the noise is continous and the ear plugs meet a certain db rating then yes you are allowed. Thinking behind it i guess is that if there is that much noise then what difference does it make. I would take them out if crossing a scale thou, don't need the hassel..

There isn't any rule against it as long one ear is free

Along with not wearing the headphones, don't wear the hood on your hoodie or jacket. Especially the hood on some honking huge winter jacket. Kills the peripheral vision.
Drives me nuts when I see people doing that. I tried it once and could only see what was directly in front of me. Don't bother trying to look over your shoulder either.mje Thanks this. -
Protecting your hearing is one thing. All you're doing wearing headphones to listen to something is causing further damage. Most people play their music or whatever they are listening to, way too loud. My daughters are like that. I can hear their music from across the room.mje Thanks this.

It's a little disconcerting the number of states that allow drivers even more leeway in not paying attention to their surroundings. It's as bad as the states that don't have mandatory motorcylce/bike helmet laws.mje Thanks this.
