I've been thinking about it all night, too. I agree with you guys. Things DO happen for a reason. I was pretty freaked out yesterday, even though I was going thru the motions of "Plan B". We've already put our resignations in....OH MY GOD!

But, my hubby said the same thing. We're going to look back at this and say, "okay, that was scary, but it worked out for the better".

We're going to an appointment with one school here tonight, but I don't like the schedule. (That's the school Interstate called and set up for us) So I'm calling the other school here today to make an appointment. Come hell or high water, this is going to happen. As a matter of fact, when I was in the shower this morning (my best thinking 15 minutes of the day), it occurred to me, we're going to be walking into Interstate with our licenses....I need to find out how that changes things. Are we still out on the road for 5 weeks with a trainer? Gotta call and find that out, too. I DO know that now they won't be taking that $75/week right off the top!

Sassy, it WILL work out. You sound like me, you've made up your mind that this is what you want to do. Just remember, sometimes we have to roll with what life throws at us, BUT, if we're persistant, we will prevail. I think sometimes God just wants to see how badly we really want it. But, when we truely do our part and do our footwork, it always ends up working out for the best.

Chin up, girl. We'll get there.

Sorry Ive been out of the loop for a bit guys... I sent Sassy a PM regarding the audit. From what I have heard, December saw a record amount of accidents for IDC including some that were very serious. One of my classmates rolled his truck 2 weeks ago.... It seems some of these accidents were from newbie drivers :biggrin_25513:.

IDC takes its safety rating very seriously and is reevaluating its Orientation/Training program to see where it can be improved to help eliminate some of these accidents. Improving the system is the name of the game here although it can be very frustrating having to play the waiting game. Remember, hiring newbies is relatively new to IDC who only hired experienced drivers before.

BTW: Mesalands Community College tuition is only about $2500 dollars and one of our classmates got a Pell Grant and spent less than $300 out of pocket for the whole thing hotel included. I still recommend the school which is accepted by ALL companies as its a PDTI Certified School and its a hell of a lot better than those 3 week $6000 schools that not all companies will accept. Go for a Community College program before a private school IMHO.

No I didn't get it. I believe you can send a PM once you have at least 50 posts, so you are only 4 away! And by the way you can cry on my shoulder anytime! :biggrin_2553:

IDC contacted them this morning. All they were told was that hiring was suspended 30-60 days for an internal audit.
So it seems that IDC is NOT hiring people who have gotten their CDL independently from a school like I did. Guess I'm SOL, too.

H/G you already have your CDL? If so, did you get pre-hired?

My fingers are crossed for you.... :yes2557: Don't give up its just the wrong place at the wrong time sorta of deal it seems like. What is your recruiter telling you?

    Hi Globetrotter,

Yes, I do have my CDL. I finished school last Friday and passed the state test Saturday. In mid December our school placement person told me to call Don at IDC. She figured with my background (no accidents, no legal probs, good work history and good school scores) I'd be a shu-in for a job with them. I called, and got a call back from Steve who told me to fax my app right away, which I did. Then they handed the app off to Patty. Then I heard the rumor, which is now proved to be true. Pretty disheartening, all in all. I'm only about two hours south of Tacoma and I'm thinking of driving up to talk to them about it.
