Naw it aint like that...he's been driving on paper logs since the 80's he shows 30 mins loading and unloading so forth...which i would do also on paper logs but i was telling him when i start driving this summer chances are i would be on elogs...and will not have the chance to do that...so thats why he dont log on lines 1 and 2 during his 14 hr window

It's his 70. If he wants to burn them up while loading/unloading, eating, having repairs made and even taking a dump, let him! Hah

Got my first ticket today, was 2060 pds over on my tandems. Guess I should have scaled that 44,000 pound load!

I now owe the State of Missouri $195.50.

As a flatbedder, its difficult for us to be out of a shipper in 30 due to the fact it takes us over an hour to secure the load. So instead of showing an hour plus or securement I just show 45 to an hour for load securement and loading. If a DOT asks me how it took me so fast 2 secure a load I would just tell him that I had plenty of help from other drivers. No matter what kind of logs you run on only show minimum amount of times for everything you don't want to use too much of your 70 hours. It only takes 7 minutes to fuel and 15 minutes to do a pre trip inspection and 5 minutes to do a post trip inspection or less. Don't log a post trip inspection. Just flag it that's all you need to do. 30 minutes unload and load times are good to show for reefer or dry van but you could probably get away with 20 minutes even if it took you an hour.

    EggoTrucker and 48Packard Thank this.

I only scale my loads if it looks questionable but no need 2 waste 10 bucks to scale a load I know is going to be perfectly legal.

My rule of thumb is 30k or better to scale.

That' not true. You can pause your 14 if you split your sleeper birth 8 and 2. Most companies won't let drivers do it because it gets complicated. The 14 resumes after the 8 hours in sleeper birth are up. I was looking at how complicated it gets.
