I was just over at the Volvo dealer in cincy - (world wide equip) - and talked to one of their engine mechs. who said he has seen EVERY make of engine go over a million miles with original turbos and injectors...
he echoed my comments on a block being nothing but a vessel in a diesel and the liners and pistons can last over a million but normal service life is just about at that milestone...
BTW - a "frame in" replaces all the wearables and having one every 750K could in theory keep you rolling forever...![]()
million miles is it possible on an engine?

this was in reference to odometers - I noticed new digital dashes on 2007 and newer volvo VN's have 8 figure odo's
1,232,551.99 miles show as 1,232,551.9 not 232,551.9 etc etc
I gues they figure adding another place on the "dial" will make trade ins more idiot proof!
(geee this 1997 pete only has 45,000 miles on it!)

you mean in-frame dont you?
there are two types of overhuals, rebiulds, re conditioned....whatever you want to call them...in frame and out -
well frame in frame out in frame out frame etc etc
the terminology gets mixed... hehehhehe
actually three types - not us to forget the dreaded core replace
