    Ahh BULL....

When I first bought my truck it was Speed Limit PLUS 5mph

Then it was 70mph.....a year later it was 67mph

Now its 62-65 mph, heck I was relaxing the other day and got passed by a PRIME truck:biggrin_25523:

I worked for a 48 state OTR reefer company & the trucks were governed at 68 mph. They had an older truck governed at 62 mph that was plush and quiet on the inside and smooth riding. I swapped for the 62 mph truck and made the same avg. pay weekly.

A lot of you guys don't know a lot about trucking yet. Hey, it's all good. You're new at it. There are plenty of companies that pay very well and have decent equipment. Stop looking at the big picture and start looking at the smaller ones. Trucking isn't like any other product. It's not like stereos or TV sets. Yeah, that off brand DVD player is junk and will give you nothing but grief, while Sony, a name you know, will give you years of use. It's the exact oposite in trucking. There is a lot more out there than Swift and Werner.

I went from an ungoverned truck to a 69 mph truck to a 65 mph truck. Didn't see a pay decrease. I only ran 68 in the ungoverned truck most of the time anyways.

You guy's in NYC are missing alot here! What is the main export of NYC? No joke here it's GARBAGE! just look around and see how many different trash haulers are out there. MBI seems to be the biggest that I see and I see alot of em. Sure it smells but talk to some of em and they all say the same thing"smells like money to me". Also look into some of the local transfer companies, I've never checked but I'm sure there's lots of em. Go spend some time hangin near the GWB or on the LIE and see what trucks you see the most of. My company pays an $100 to go into the city, wouldn't that be cool to pick up an $100 when you go home? Use your eyes and THINK. Good luck!

With so many drivers not wanting to go into NYC I would guess a lot of companies would jump all over hiring you.

I drive a 62 mile an hour company truck... I drove 12820 miles in February, that's 3205 a week. I am certainly not starving out here and as far as a 600 mile 2 day run, it depends, drop and hook, its a one day run, no problem at all, live load or unload, it may be an issue, but anything over 3000 miles a week, I can live with.
