Practical vs HHG and per diem vs non per diem is totally 100% a personal choice depending on your particular situation. However with per diem you get holiday pay and also vacation is figured differently. One isn't really better over the other. The instructor will go over all the different pay options in detail during the orientation in the 4th week. With that said. The majority of drivers I know take practical per diem as do I. But I do know some who choose the take the non per diem option. Most of them tend to be guys who've been with the company quite awhile. Like I said it simply comes down to your personal situation.

Well week 1 is over and so far no one was sent home yet. So far this week we did the Millis 500, bob tailed on the highway for a couple mins and learned how to straight line back, and Sight/Blind side Offset Back. Next week we will be learning the rest of the backing maneuvers and continue on pretrip and other things. Having a blast. Also 4 out of the 6 students have trainers already. PS I was lucky enough to get baritone YAY.

Today we get to test out on backing. Everyone is coming along nicely. Can't wait to get out on the road with a trainer. Having a blast so far.
