I searched the web for a trucking job and found Nocona Transport. I called and spoke to Jeff Lawrence, CEO, and he told me that he wanted me to start right away. He sent me a drug test packet and once he received my results, he arranged for one of his drivers to pick me up to take me to "my" truck. He told me that I would get my own truck and pay the lease and pay the fuel. But then I was told by another driver that after you pay off the lease on the truck, it's not your truck....it still belongs to Nocona. And the lease amount Jeff told me turned out to be much less than what was deducted from my paycheck, so he lied there too.
My first trip was 1147 miles from Mullins, SC to Leavenworth, KS, he told me the trip paid $2000 but my paystub states $1440 and I received $620.03.
My second trip was 2096 miles from Carrollton, TX to Redmond, WA, he told me it paid $2500 and my check was for $250.55. During this trip, the trailer got stuck on a curb by a tight entrance to a parking lot and after I successfully lifted the trailer with the help of a guy and his forklift, I started to experience severe chest pain, nausea, shortness of breath and almost passed out. After I delivered the trailer, I called Jeff and told him that this job is not for me and that I would take one more and then go home.
My third trip was 2346 miles from Puyallup, WA to Wichita Falls, TX, he told me it paid $3500 but my paystub states $3312 and I received a check for $0.00.
My current employer's operations slowed down and I could not afford to stay home for 2-3 weeks without income. I usually average between $1200 to $1800 take home per week. When the job pays $3000, I get almost half of that......not nothing!!Nocona turned out to be the same as no income, and it also almost cost my life. I believe Jeff owes me at least $3500.
I cannot understand how Jeff can expect a driver to drive 2000 miles over three days and get little or no money!! I spoke to three other drivers and they are getting
paid the same as I was! Nocona is the biggest ripoff!!

I accepted a ride based on a phone call, and then signed the lease. Yup, I believed the guy. My current (slow) drive-away company never lied to me.....I got paid what they told me! Just been doing this for 4 years after 28 years in Florida construction. Sure miss my job as superintendent!!

I am a driver and not a owner operator anymore, my pay per week is more than that.

My current drive-away company got slow so I thought I'd hook up with Nocona to make some money. Don't know where you got that I deadheaded from KS to TX for $1.20/loaded mile. I just delivered a truck this morning for my drive-away company and they have no new rides, so I'm going home in TN. I need to get a job with a company that will keep me busy and not rip me off like Nocona. If you're making more money as a driver than an owner-op, then I'll stick to being a driver but I need to find a good company. If your company has openings, let me know. Otherwise, I will search in this website for a good company.

This driver is either not being truthful or clearly misunderstood the program we offered him. In addition, the information he is sharing with the world is very inaccurate.. He never was dispatched to Mullins, SC. One of my drivers picked him up in central Tennessee & dropped him off at a truck of ours in Paducah, KY.. then he drove to Leavenworth,KS.. delivered a preloaded load.. & we deadheaded him to Texas for orientation. He was told he would be paid 72% of the load gross which was $2000 x 72% = $1440, minus fuel of course.. The math is simple, but he clearly does not understand how being an independent contractor or owner operator works.. All our drivers are paid at 72% of the GROSS minus fuel & lease costs.. Its quite simple.. since he got the origin city wrong, its not surprising he got the pay wrong too.. If he made as much as he said he did prior to coming here, then he should have stayed there & not slander our company with false facts. We have been operating in a straight forward & upfront manner for 12 years. We are not in the business of setting up our drivers to fail.. In fact the majority of those who have followed our program have been very successful.. I just wish there was a way to prevent drivers & companies from openly slandering each other without all the facts proven 1st..

I am being very truthful and will be happy to send a copy of my $0.00 check with details to anyone!!!! If $2000 x 72% = $1440, why didn't I ever get a paycheck like that? If I had, I would still be with Nocona!!! The entire $3500 on my last trip went to fuel, taxes, misc. and to the truck lease on Nocona's truck. I spoke to a few companies after Nocona's experience and you also pay the truck lease but then the truck is yours....that's not the case with Nocona!! During my brief time with Nocona, I met several other drivers and they all told me that they too went for weeks without a paycheck and they couldn't quit because their account was in the red with Nocona, and they were afraid if they quit, they would get an adverse report on their DAC. So they are driving and taking no money home for weeks! I tried Nocona because my driveaway got slow, but they got busy again and I am taking home $1800 to $3000 per week!!! How can any trucking company owner expect his drivers to drive week afer week and get no money????? Stay away from Nocona!!! They are bad news!!
