Cummins is the largest engine manufacturer in the world. There engines can be found in pretty much anything from Dodge pick ups to locomotives, large stand-by generator and earth moving equipment of all sizes.

Make sure you leave on good terms with Pete. I have heard mixed feelings on working for cummins. Some guys absolutely love it, and some really hated it. But I'm sure it's like any tech job, if you got good guys around you it makes work enjoyable. Good luck

i dont think peterbilt is gonna let me go without a fight and to make things worse cummins is requiring me to get a letter from my service manager saying its ok for them (cummins) to give me a job, since peterbilt is a cummins distributor. This way it doesnt cause any problems between the pete dealer and cummins. but your right cummins is the biggest engine manufacturer now and its a great opportunity. cummins is the new cat i guess you could say

I know a couple of guys that hated working for cummins. I also know half a dozen that would never leave cummins. before you decide take a good look under the hood of the volvo truck, PITA! you will miss the pete. probably wont miss the mx engine!

I work for cummins in so cal its a great job but i hate it.great pay easy going but i feel like i have taken a step back in my carrer.if your fairly new to the industry then you will probly love it ive been here 8 months amd came from a fleet back ground as a lead mechaninc for the last 10 years so im stuck in my ways, cummins likes to hire kids right out of school no offense but i hate baby sitting and hate when people always wantto joke aroind or think they know everything when they actually know squat just remember the grass isent always greener on the other side of the fence i hve learned that the hard way this year myself kust my .02

It doesn't matter if you stay at Pete or go to Cummins, the trucks are all getting more aerodynamic which equals harder to get to things. I was a mechanic at Cummins for 5 years before I changed jobs. I really liked it but it came down to personal issues with co-workers, so I left for a better job without the stress that I was also having to deal with.

Did cummins get boring at all? Like very repetitive with the work you were getting? Cummins gave me a great offer so I spoke with me service manger and dealer principal today and told them I was thinking of going to cummins, so now I'm waiting on their counteroffer. I really like cummins and working on them but I also like getting clutch jobs and working on cats and really just workin on the entire truck. Not sure what to do. Do I take the job at cummins and make good money right from the start or do I stick with Peterbilt which is a brand new dealer and I've been there since day 1 opening the place and grow with the company and hopefully have good future?
