Ok I don't see any dedicated posts, so I'm starting one. Why because they are some of the toughest most reliable workhorses ever made. Below is my newly acquired Acar, it's 85 Construcktor 2, yes that's how it's spelled, Acars play on words.
bit of history here, Acar was bought out by White back in the 50's kept both brands, Acars built in PA, White's in Cleveland OH, then in 1980 ? Volvo bought out Autocar/White, Acars continued being made in PA until 87, then moved to UT, which ended the classic Acar "drivers cab" but back 1 sec' Volvo started its conventional US trucks here being built in Greensboro NC using the White cab which stayed in production right up until 2001, White continued until around 87 when Volvo bought out GM truck division, and ceased the good old Generals etc, merged White/Gmc.
the Construcktor 2 is merging of Acar heavy spec with White and Volvo's money. They where built in NC until 87 when they moved the Construcktor name of to UT assembly plant to be used on special build Acars till the end, from what I have seen, 87 - 01 Construcktors have Volvo/Acar grill fixed mount with butterfly a hood.
Notice the Chevy style cowl induction hood, it has the varying section depth frame rails, tall under cab around 16" then chamfer up just before the rear axle bogie to around 11" the frame swan necks down in front of the cab like Mack Superliners . The radiator is massive a full 1600sq/ins x 4, 8V92tta 445bhp Detroit, RTLO 14615 trans, SSHD 58k rears
on Hendrickson RS580 walking beam suspension. Having problems loading my pics via IPad ,

Nice looking white. First tractor I ever rode in was an old 80 single axle white. #### thing was bulletproof ajd being a workhorse was an understatement for sure. I'd kill to find that old tractor again. What do you plan on doing with this one?

I had 2 of these I had bought a long time ago when I use to sell truck parts , they were roll offs. Rugged old girls.

I remember in 1987 or 88 when I worked at a nuclear plant we had White trucks. It was right about then when Volvo bought them out. We had them for one year after I started. That was the first truck I ever drove. Notice similarities in the dash design?

1st "real" truck I drove was a 1959 White, Cummins powered (180?) with a 5x3, twin stick fun and slow, I think it would make about 50 MPH loaded! That was 35+ years ago. Drove a 56 GMC Cannonball COE during that same time frame, 6-71 and a 10 speed. That old White was a HD truck compared to the GMC, BUT the GMC was easier to drive due to the 10 speed.
