Hi everyone,
I am a 55 Year old stay at home grandma!!! My son works for Prime and I start training in a few weeks. yup I'm scared. Yup it is going to be a whole new life. but with age comes some kind of wisdom to handle lots and lots of problems. they can be overcome with the right attitude and perseverance. This forum and whole web site have been a great source of knowledge and comfort in the time I have been waiting to finally start a new life. Thank you for all the advise
Do you have advice for an Elder newbie ?

Good luck to you grandma trucker !!!mje and Skydivedavec Thank this. -
Hi whitebird,
The saying goes "You're never to old." I took my truck driving school at Great Lakes Truck Driving School in Columbia Station, OH. I learned a lot, but I know there is a lot more to learn. I'm 58 and start my new career with Baylor Trucking. Can't wait!!!Chinatown, quatto, kerosene jockey and 2 others Thank this. -
By the way, what kind of trucking are you going to do? OTR, regional, local....??Skydivedavec and mje Thank this. -

I'm beginning to think that there are many "closet seniors" here. Maybe we could form a powerful union and, if necessary, picket in our wheelchairs.....

mje and Skydivedavec Thank this. -
I pull a drop deck hauling mostly heavy equipment and whatever they can get on the trailer when they need to move us, I work with a guy who is 72 years young and he out works some of the young guys here in the company!! He drags chains and binders, throws straps, and everything else related to our line of work and he does it with a smile and without a complaint. We don't TARP anything we haul, were a NO TARP company!! So you see, at your age pulling a FLATBED or STEPDECK isn't as bad as it's made out to be. Key is to PACE yourself, work SMART not HARD, and don't ever let the LOAD drive you, you DRIVE the Load!! Best Wishes to you Friend and keep us updated !!
mje, Skydivedavec, Chinatown and 2 others Thank this. -
I'll try and write about my experiences in trucking another thread. If I'm successful in this new career I want others to know it's never too late in life to be useful....It's never too late to start a new life..... It's never too late to dream....mje Thanks this. -
quatto, mje, Chinatown and 1 other person Thank this.
