If your going to be a Scoundrel you must first use the old noodle and plan things out in advance. (Foreseeing ones future is a gift) If it were me and I was planning a Great Adventure of that type. I would start a company when I got my CDL. Then I wouldn't even use that license. I would have gotten it in another proper state and let it sit. After Maturity of both then you are what you say you are. But the ability to think that far ahead and plan is considered a gift nowadays I'm told. I've heard many times in my life I should be a Politician or something.

Though I just started in my Young 30's building a Company Called Light in the Dark Creation. I do a Report Called the Death By Cold Steel Report. Even Though I have logged countless 80+ Weeks in the Oilfield.

Now that will be all the Ideas I will be providing today! Though this came to mind seconds after I read your post. I would say at this juncture it is a bit to late to do something like you have proposed in the Near Future. Now even if you waited the 3 Years; the Experience Gap can only be met with Experience; but if your a slow and thought full driver you are in my opinion light years ahead of some people I have met claiming to have driven for years.

The Accidents have build to a Crescendo in my parts of the oil patch. I have had none; and only 1.5 months now of experience due to my safe and slow but surely approach to things.

I was hired in New London Ct. By a moving company as a onsite office mover at the millstone nuclear power station in less than one hour soley based on a clean criminal record and pee test :biggrin_2559: Pushing a 2 wheel hand truck around moving a filing cabinet from 1 office to another is JUST a bit different than driving a tanker in the oil fields.

After 13 years of office moving , I can honestly say that comparing it to actual truck driving is about as similar as comparing Danica Patrick to Dennis Rodman.

Theres a reason (which I didn't understand back when I got my CDL) why a lot of companies (especially specialized sectors like tankers) want some OTR experience...... Because when you first get your CDL.....MOST (not all) folks don't know CRAP, and think they can do it all.

Actually sir.....I didn't do the math, but the above is quite possible (not sure on the mileage tho)...... I have about 99% of my driving experience being local.....the first time I went OTR, my boss gave me a log book,a map, and my hotel res. and said "go here (SoCal) and don't lose your brakes coming down the grapevine". I made it....and then did the exact same run maybe 3 more times, and that's the extent of my OTR exp, I actually got pulled in at the scales, and the guy thought I was "cooking my books"(didn't even know what that meant lol) my only saving grace was, I messed up filling out my logs SOOOOOO bad: he knew I was brand new and wet behind the ears (OTR speaking)

I dont drive a tanker but... I'd imagine that there is plenty of controls and knobs and the such that you would actually need to know how to use, and with 3yrs exp ....in a timely fashion. Not looking like WHAT DO I DO HERE? With someone thinking why are you taking so long

Why don't you get some tanker experience first with a company that hire new CDL drivers for their tanker division like Schneider or Prime? Lying could ruin you in the future if it shows on your DAC.
