Hi, I'd appreciate any help with regards to driving jobs in the Alberta oilpatch and/or SK. I have been driving for 3 years with a class 1 licence for a company in Ontario doing Canadian/US runs. I have my TDG, Whimis and First Aid & CPR. I worked in Northern Alberta a few years ago so have knowledge of the oil industry and how it works. I was previously in the Military for 28 years in the UK, I am hard working guy and am 100% committed to my work (that's the military in me) I would like to have some idea of when companies will be hiring for this winter for driving jobs? plus, if any good companies come to mind please let me know!! what's the average hourly rate for driving jobs that I could expect? does it vary for what you haul? do most companies pay overtime and bonus's and LOA? what about relocation fees! do you know of any companies which give them for relocating? In reality, what kind of annual salary could I expect? it seems that all I am interested in is the money!!! it is important but I just want to get the correct information before making the move from Ontario. I have put together a list of larger companies and some smaller ones ready to send my Resume to, would it be better to stick with the larger companies?) I just want to see if I could get some info from anyone out there first. I have read through lots of the info provided by truckers, some good and some bad. Is it really that hard to get a driving job that pays well in the Oilpatch area? a couple of people say they have struggled.
here's a list of some of the companies: Clean Harbours,Mullen, Pe Ben, Mullen, Sanjel, Schlumberger, Haliburton, Pioneer Trucklines, Ensign, National Oilwell Varco, Streamflo, Canadian Wellhead isolation, Calfrac Well Servicing, Tervita, Big Eagle Services, Trican, Aveda, Canadian Nitrogen Services. plus lots more.....
I have been doing my homework!! if anyone can tell me if I am going in the right direction for a driving job please let me know. IF NOT!!! please can you put me on the right track : )
Thanks to anyone who replies to my thread![]()

Hi, thanks for the info. I am new to truckersreport so could I please ask did you mean the first page of the Canadian Oilfield work? was it regarding the $40 per hour plus bonus etc and that they are short of drivers in Alberta? if so, I noticed that it was dated 2011, is it still the same now or not? is there still a shortage of drivers? has it changed much since then?

You will not be making anywhere near $40 plus bonus etc. jeez, do you believe everything you read on the internet?
Fresh told me he will be making $500,000 per yr.soon... he's got 2-3 months in the patch, fresh from Toronto. Believe it? -
You would be better off to figure on $30-35 an hr to get goin here in the patch. There is a huge variance of different driving opportunities out here. There is a pretty slim chance that anyone will pay you to relocate. PM me n I can give ya lots of info in a few different areas...
buttons772 Thanks this. -
