Personally I like the Pete 379's. When I started with my present company, that's what I got and I never drove one before. After I did, I loved it! Great ride and handling, turned easily and I started my driving career in a 1979 Mack DM600 roll-off with a twin stick 5x3. Guess you can say I'm a narrow cab kind of guy. The International Pro-Stars are good comfortable riding trucks as well. As far as engines, as before mentioned if your staying out of CA, go with a pre-emission unit. To many electrical features on the trucks makes it more difficult for a newer drivers to diagnose a problem when it arises. I was too young for the grand ol days of trucking but I did get a small bit of it in 98' when I started. I miss those days! BTW, APU is a definite plus for driver comfort as well as top pay and bennies. Ill sign if the prices and home time are right!:biggrin_255:

    I like Detroit myself, as a driver a Peterbilt 379 or a KW W900L.

Transmission, 13 or 18 speed depends on how many mountain areas I have to drive in. Never had a truck with a APU but know how much fuel cost so a APU would be most excellent, would keep the fuel cost down because being older I cannot do the 120 degree sweat fest or the below sleeping.

I like to keep a truck clean and well maintained even if it a truck I drive for someone else.

Crazy as it may sound, a nice cabover would be fine as well. Peterbilt or Kw

Yeah, I don't think there was any shortage of nicknames for it. I think it actually worked out better.. his previous truck was a road tractor with a dump body slapped on. At least with the glider, he installed a Camelback suspension.

Out of the states, I am talking about having one and fixing it up to be a hauler. Plenty older trucks looking for tlc. I had a nice Peterbilt I fixed up and regret getting rid of it. That girl would walk the dogs, not the fastest rig but top end was 73 and could climb hills with the KTA600 in it.

    Hey Old Man,

What are you thinking of doing for trucks?

I'm interested to hear your perspective on this.

They do, they just don't sell them on the North American market. International 9800s, Kenworth K100s (and variants), Freightliner Argosys.. all are still available outside the US and Canada.
