Hello everyone, I have been following these forums for quite sometime, ever since ive been interested in getting into trucking. I am currently 2 weeks from graduating trucking school, and am top student right now(helps I was driving big rigs in the military). I was wondering what are good companies around Salem Oregon, that accepts people fresh from school, I know some companies that require experience will waive that being that im a veteran. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Oh and I have all my endorsements, and am open to whatever style of driving(OTR, local, dedicated, etc.) Thank you for your time.

I do not claim to know;but Gawd knows I've brought back enough loads of lumber out of the NW th last couple years..Have you tried calling the 250,000 sawmills out there? Pay is good according to the driver's I talked too..

Speaking of which I ran into some Happy Truckers out there who were with...is it Central Oregon Transport? Flatbed Company..I'll check my pics and get back to you if I screwed that name up..

And I think your in the wrong thread;but no big deal-a Mod will move it if the need is there.

Check Careerbuilder website and trans-system website.

    Apergis Transportation
    Buel Inc.

Does your school have companies on their job placement list?
Since you have all the endorsements, apply with tanker companies for the best paying jobs.
Ignore "experience required" and apply anyway; start with as many online applications as you can.
Some companies have different divisions to choose from such as flatbed, tanker, van, reefer.

C'mon Chinatown. You know better than that. You just have the 2 worst companies out there!!!!

Look, Gordon, Interstate, May, Cheema, KKW, System/TWT are all very good companies, all being in the NW except for KKW, they are in Pomona, CA. Give them a call, I'm sure they can help you. Good luck and thank you for your service!

Depends on what you mean by worst. For some drivers, what one considers bad, is a godsend for others. Hard running coast-to-coast by teams is considered bad for some, but others like the miles and paychecks. Each driver has to filter through the various opportunities for what is a good fit for their specific wants and needs. For me, worst, means dry van/regional/local/reefer meat loads/grocery warehouses/teams. Best to me means solo 48 states tanker or flatbed.

Interstate Distributor, from my understanding, no longer hires unless you have 1 year OTR experience, since they went through reorganizaion and now controlled by Saltchuk.

Hurst had warned us about aspergis, and Buell is just bad from my own discussions with them. It's a lease purchase plan that screws you out of every penny for an old truck you'll never own. I didn't know interstate stopped taking new drivers, but Gordon certainly does and they are a good company.

Thank you all for your replies, I have applied at May, and several that you listed joseph1135, I will let you know what company I go with, and was thinking of doing a little post series of my starting adventure once with that company. If anyone else has any suggestions for good companies out there I should try for I would greatly appreciate it!
