I believe it is the PROFESIONAL drivers duty to always protect the less knowledgable in our enviroment, including other drivers that have not become professional.

It is unbelievable the number of vehicles that do not turn their HEADLIGHTS AND TAIL LIGHTS ON in bad weather. I came down 1-81 this morning out of Pa. and it was raining pretty good and people going along without any signs of lights. They made seat belt laws and are enforcing them, but not wearing a seat belt only puts one person at risk. A vehicle without lights on in bad weather puts everyone at risk. I guess they think they will run down the battery--And just because your car has daytime running lights, does it have the tail lights on also??
biggare1980, Logan76 and RobC Thank this. -
In a grey car on a grey day.

Reportedly, Peter Cottontail ran across the highway and traffic suddenly braked and then crash, bang, bump, thump, etc........

No prob, but you obviously want to keep up with VDOT on the closures. Of course, they'll have posted detours regardless, but it will be a mess for a while. Lots of vehicles to clean up. Be careful, driver.

They need to put fog sensors and barricades through there like they've done in TN on I-75.

And like on I64 over Afton Mt in VA

This wreck may be the catalyst to make that happen. I run Fancy gap a lot and I always drop a gear after the first emergency ramp. I have had to stop a few times loaded due to wrecks and construction back ups. I always feel like I am about to get run over by trucks on the second half of the grade. Too many truck drivers don't have enough respect for this hill, hit the left lane and let it roll. No way they could stop given the sight distances around those curves towards the bottom even on a good weather day. I hate to say it but 4 wheelers aren't the biggest danger on Fancy Gap. Its big trucks. There should be a 55 mph truck speed limit for those 7 miles IMHO.

WCYB-TV reports 95 vehicles and 3 fatalities and eight miles of interstate closed until it was cleaned up.
