OMG, there is so much bad info there.....

Can finance a truck for 20% down. That would be $6000. With a $7500 trailer AND a $30,000 truck, that would be $7500

$1700 for base plates, $1680 for insurance, $300 for MC150, $50 for business name filing. Total $3850

Quick pays can get you money within a week. I just went from using a company fuel card to my own check book and did it with $2000.

Cell phone is $75, MIFI is $75, Laptop $300, printer- $50, Load board $110 Total of $600.

We are now down to $13,900.

Maintenance has been a pay-as-you-go affair for me. In the first month, it was $2600. I made that in loads and was able to cover it with my second settlement check.

    LONG ways from your $90,000.

About 3x as much $$$ as you think.
How do the other guys get their cars to the rallys?
Are the other clubs/rallys you could haul for other weeks?
Do you really want to live in a truck when you're not going anywhere?
How about a toter truck and a covered trailer?
A business plan is really important. First thing I'd do is start checking out car and bike rallys.
    Good luck,
    mary

I have been an owner for well over 20 years all together and I have never started with more than 2500 bucks . Heck if I had 90,000 bucks I darned sure wouldn't worry about trucking I would be enjoying myself somewhere off the beaten path for awhile ! Then I would take 2500 and start all over again LOL !!!!

$1680 for insurance? Really? Are you leased or are you a carrier?

In case we all missed it, the guy wants to haul cars....from what I know from a buddy who used to be in the car hauling business, I don't think he'll be getting insurance for $1680.

$7500 for a car trailer? LMAO.

I didn't say he needed $100,000 cash. I said he need $15,000 cash in the bank to cover breakdowns in the new truck in the first year, and I still say that is mandatory.

Fine. Go ahead and start with $2500 and chase all that cheap freight...gotta take another cheap load because I have a payment to make LOL. Soon the DOT will have you OOS for bald tires and you'll miss a deliveries and you'll be just another failure statistic.

Never started with more than $2500? 20 years ago? How many times have you started?

IF YOU ARE UNDER FUNDED DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND STAY OUT.

You and truckertobroker are a hoot. If I didn't know any better, you were one in the same. Yes, you DID say he needed $90,000 AND still needed to buy a trailer.

Every thing you CLAIM he needs, he doesn't need to shell out to the level you claim he does. Or does it just upset you too that someone can do it for a LOT less money than you want to make others THINK they need.

$1680 will give you 3 months insurance. Enough to get your insurance bound when you file your MC150.

.....bought a used T800 KW and in the first month it blew a head gasket. New cylinder head assy and labor it came to $13,000 IIRC.

...bought a 2005 T2000 C15 and the VVA housing let go and ruined the head and cam. You guessed it $13,000 + towing.

Don't forget about the lost revenue while the truck is in the shop. Bought a new 2008 T660 and that thing was in the shop more than it was out. Gonna finance the the monthly payments too LOL.

so what, you want to whine about it, fine.

ANY used piece of equipment has risk to it. For that matter, so does any NEW piece of equipment. It's a mechanical device. It's not a matter of IF it's going to fail, just when.

IF you understand service life of components, you'd understand what might or might not be a good deal.

Sounds like you and snowy need to get together to compare shop nightmares. Sounds like both of you suffer from bad luck.

Come on man, READ. Show me where I said he needed $90 cash. I only said $15K IN THE BANK.... I even CAPITALIZED it for you. I don't care if grandma gives him the money.

3 months, no wonder. That's IF they allow him to pay 3 months. You think a car hauler can get that dry van rate? BTW, my costs listed were for a year except the fuel.
