If TDI in Sanford runs it the same as the Milton campus doex, there is an additional charge on top of tuition for hotel. Depending in your county, WIA may or may not pay for that. Ask your One Stop counselor. Mine would have paid for it, but I was only a 40 minute drive from the Milton campus and I was fortunate enough that m inlaws live on the route I took to school and I was able to drop mt kids off every morning since my fiance was OTR while I was in school. I truly enjoyed the TDI program. I just wish it was more than 3 weeks. I dont know anything about Roadmaster.

my WIA will pay for hotel at TDI just curious about which one I visited TDI 2 yrs ago had a used car salesman experience like most , rudeness and even was told they were my only option if I wanted a good driving job , the salesman there doubted I had made 60k as a executive in previous career and really insulted me after asking some important questions guess TDI is used to dealing with those who dont mind that insulting attitude kind of left there with a bad taste in my mouth , luckily I became the director of transportation for a large non trucking company and have since been laid off from that so Im back to exploring my CDL option

Im leaning towards roadmaster I had CDL B bus drivers/students I hired from there in my previous business and have only heard good stuff ..right now commuting is gonna set me back 80bucks a week so the hotel option is a deciding point for me my one stop counselor for WIA is saying she has gas cards available but my luck they will be 10 bucks worth she cant tell me until my full application is submitted

Visiting Roadmaster tomorrow hope to have a decision on which school by monday

    thanks honeybadger for the info!

I have been a truck driver for 3 years. So this is only from memory. I found the best of the best. MFT (Mid Florida Tech). It's part of the Orange County School system, so that's why it's cheaper than like Road Master. Top notch instructors and facility. It's in orlando, off John Young Parkway. The class is 8 weeks. $2300. I was looking to go to road master, but 3 years ago, CRETE company listed MFT as the only school they would hire from. That was good enough for me. I can tell you, it was the best. I'm so grateful to learn from them. It has come in very handy out here. It amazes me to see so many stupid drivers out here, having no clue on driving properly and safety. Good Luck

im in TDI right now in sanford. Rex was a great teacher for the permit so was anthony hopkins i mean jerry. the instructors are good. and the hotel is $100 for 3 weeks. so im from cocoa fl and the 100 for the whole corse is way worth it in gas. im a second weeker and after the first 4 days you start doing actual truck work. friday first week you do nothing but back up straight line. then starting monday they go over shifting and then you go on road in the morning. (DO YOUR PTI) yes the yard trucks are worn down. but what do you want they are there and get beat on by people all the time. second week runs like this morning you drive roads of the city and then take lunch after lunch you work yard doing back up maneuvers. 3rd week you practice your yard maneuvers more in the AM then after lunch you do city runs and highway runs. my driving instructor is mike and he's great. if you cant take being told what your doing wrong then dont do this. all in all im happy with the training ive been getting and if your a Vet they take Post 9/11 (which i am using)

the hotel right now is candlewood in off emma lake in lake marry. im in my own room this week but last week i had to share a room with another student. wich was fine because i got along with the guy. if your a smoker ask for smoking room before monday.
