When team driving we try to make our fuel stops during driver change overs. However, the best fuel prices are often in the middle of a shift. To make the most efficient fuel stops we team up to put in fuel additive (Marvel Mystery Oil at $16 per gallon from WalMart is great!) while the other goes to the desk to get the Comdata card going, get the fuel pumping then make your pit stop while the other is finishing the pump and pulling the truck forward, etc. No matter what the issue is to try and minimize the down time in order to maximize miles during a shift.
I do take a "leg shaker" break 2-3 times during my shift, stopping in rest areas to minimize time away from the road or doing a "pull through" at a truck stop (pulling through the pump to go "shake my middle leg").
Gotta go and pick up a load. Hope to be out and back by the weekend.

I agree that team driving can be relentless. The imperative is to keep the wheels turning, to "feed the truck" and make your deliveries on time. After the last couple of months as a team driver my thoughts have changed regarding the ideal trucking job, and that would be to drive solo with my wife as a rider. She's game for it, our kids are grown, and it would be nice to be able to park to sleep.
The good thing about team driving out of LA is that the round trip, coast to coast, is one week. You can be home every week or so. The difficulty is being able to make enough money to "feed the truck" as an owner/operator. Perhaps the best situation for team driving would be a husband and wife both driving (my wife is intimidated by the thought of driving), then your HOUSEHOLD income would be increased. However, splitting a team driving settlement check between TWO households results in a pay decrease. -
That is the ONLY situation that I would team in - having a dame to be with me and having the truck park for at least six hours for good sleep. If both drivers' monies do not go in to the same pot, then it is pointless to go through the rigors of teaming in my opinion.

Quality carriers out of tampa. Hazmat tankers. Not sure about the pay, comparatively. And they will train.

$.75 would be nice for one driver driving a company truck. .75 for both drivers to split would not work for me.

What would be a good taxable net for single driver O/O? Per mile driving 100 - 120K annualy

Evidently, you are not understanding the math. Solo driver at 35 cents per mile, running 500 miles per day is $175. Team drivers, splitting 35 cents per mile, running 1000 miles per day is $350, split between the drivers, is still $175 per driver. You can look at it two ways, either you are getting 35 cents for the miles you drive, or you are getting 17.5 cents for the miles you drive and 17.5 cents for the miles your codriver drives, while you sleep. Solo or team, same money.

Thats what I was thinking. You split the mileage pay .40 .50. What ever, between the drivers. 5000 mile turn pays .40 = 2000.00. the team splits into an equalable amount base on their calculations.

Is there a company that is paying .75 solo?
