Judging by what I see in the truck stops, some truckers can last longer than others; takes them longer to wither away to nothing...

If he is able to get on with a company as a newbie without going to a driving school, go for it. Just pray he gets a good trainer. Because if he gets a bad one, he isnt going to learn enough from him to make up for what he didnt learn skipping school. Good luck to him. Without a driving school, he likely should try to stick out there at least a year. And he may just like it there. I have met happy drivers from that company before.

just use it for experience and move on, lots of good companies out there and some that are not so good. Maybe this will end up being a good fit for him, probably not but maybe. As long as he looks at this first year as an internship he'll be ok. It will also provide him with an opportunity to talk to drivers from other companies and find out what they like and what they don't.valbob Thanks this.
