other than secure yards i.e. dallas, who is locking empty trailers? That is against company policy. I had that happen one time in dallas. Driver dropped his trailer and bobtailed out. 5 hours later the trailer is still there. My key worked on the lock, so I grabbed the trailer and headed out. 2 hours later I got a message from dallas asking about the trailer. I called my DM and explained what happened and he said no problem and keep rolling!
Knight Transportation no good at all.

A former Knight driver who now works for Market transport told me that the load plnrs are using some kind of load match software so if you are picky about where you run your miles will drop because you will have to wait for the software to find you a load on your lane. Thats why he quit and went over to Market because he only wants to run I-5 corridor. From what he told me the days of running where you want have not ended but if you won't go off a particular area ever it could hurt your miles because they are not going to reserve the load for you because you only run lets say I-10. You will sit till the software spits out a load on that corridor.
Every Knight driver I have talked to says there is a issue with lack of trailers. But this is not because there is not enough trailers. It is because of cust demands for larger trailer pools and CSA red tagging trls and the inability of the shops to repair them in a timely manner. He told me he would would be sent to the terminal to get a trl and there would be ten or so mtys with red tags on them. Mostly for minor stuff like a bad valve stem. -
i worked for knight myself and i have seen drivers put red tags on the trls and leave the terminal and go sleep at the truck stop, come back the next morning and take the red tag off the trl and hook and go ... it does happen ... i was with knight for over a year about 3 yrs ago and i left them twice.. first time i was getting more miles than i can shake a stick at and the 2nd time i was up for a dedicated ikea run from jersey to minnesota and back and they gave it to a new driver ( female ) who walked in, shook her ##### and smiled at him and he was more than happy to give her the run after i worked my ### of for that spot..
when asked all he said was, i need you regional and i said i need to clean out my truck and away i went ... i walked out, cleaned the truck, got in my car since it was at home terminal and drove home, called NFI the next day, started with them 5 days later and was with NFI for over 2 yrs... -
I don't have any of these problems. Wow man, all these problems put on just one driver. I feel bad they got you that way dude.

Well i have been with Knight for almost a year and the problems first described i have never had happen to me. I have never turned down a load yet, don't talk #### to my DM and get my loads on time and deliver on time. I am averaging 2800 - 3500 miles a week and i choose when i want to go home. Traded up from a really used up Volvo 670 to a Prostar and love it. As for finding trailers I hardly ever have to go to more then one destination to find a trailer. Yes sometimes i search and if i dont find one i am told to just bobtail. You create your own problems and i try to avoid creating problems for myself. I have had Shippers and Receivers ask for me specifically which is a rare thing from what i hear. Maybe because i was formerly in warehousing and i have done almost every thing to do with shipping and receiving that i know what to expect. Yes Knight is not for everybody. It does take some getting use to to know how to get the most out of them. They can get to be a pain. So far in this year i have been here i have had 4 DM. This one i have now is a former trucker himself and is just outstanding.

How does one create problems for themselves? -
Glad to hear everything is working out for you Tallman67122! We need more good posts like this one. I started a good page on the other side but not many have wrote much. It was worth posting it though. I have been very content with what I am doing here and glad to see you are getting what you make of it! Where do you run out of and do you get to TX often?

There's tons of ways for someone to create problems for themselves.

Just for openers:
Complain about many (or most....or all) loads you are assigned.
Call your driver manager on the phone every flippin' day for a "pat on the back" (I've spoken to mine 6 times in the six months I've been on her board).
Don't pick up and/or deliver on time
Don't get paperwork submitted on time
Incomplete logs
.....just to name a few. -
Well last Friday I picked up a staple store load going to four different locations near Jacksonville Florida. Then I picked up a load in Pluto Florida going out right near Houston Texas. Then I shot over right near Dallas right by the football stadium actually In Arlington And now I'm taking this load all the way up to right near Portland Oregon. this is an 1800 mile load that has to be there by Sunday
. this was my first time in Texas. I thought Texas was supposed to be warm?
