Unloaded a 1400 mile run at 2:30 and was looking good to make a decent week then I got punched in the face with a load, a preplan for a 16 mile deadhead/ 863 mile load to fricken shicago for a monday unload , tried to pick it up today since I was 17 miles from it and they won't let me til 11:00 thursday so I probably am done for the week.Considering taking it up in reverse so I don't feel like I am wasting time.

its ok , I get a little carried away with my sarcasm . The sooner I get used to 2500 mile average weeks the better off I will be. Its nice to drive 836 miles over 4 days sometimes , I can take all us highways and see a lot of little towns that I wouldn't otherwise, if I rush up there ( which I still might ) I will have to sit in a truck stop parking lot all weekend and that isn't much fun either. I had a run like this in january from laredo to salt lake city ( slightly longer ) and I went through a lot of new mexico and colorado and really enjoyed it , maybe I will do the same here in alabama and kentucky since there are like 3 different lines I can take within 50 miles of eachother. My preference would have been to make money but since that isn't an option I will see some stuff I might not otherwise. I saw some country in northeastern new york and western conecticut I thought was really interesting on Monday , drove by vasser and poughkipsie - America has its moments thats for sure.

If it was me, I'd have grabbed it Thursday, got to the monee petro early friday, locked up, went to the university park Metra station (3 miles away) and spent the weekend in chicago. White Sox are home this weekend.

So when you are assigned a load by Melton you are not "forced" into a specific routing?

You get a suggested routing, which they want you to stick close to. But you can get another one if you find a shorter one, weather is bad one way but not the other, etc. Just get with your dm to get it changed.

nope , definitely not forced. you can go approximately 10% " out of route " before you have problem.
I called my DM today to discuss the changes and he said if its less than 10 no need to call , I spent last night in birmingham and a blue knight was there and I said I was going to call and change it and he also said the same thing , no need to call if its under 10 % just call and get a fuel sol. when you need it. I am in Marion Il. , I went 200 the first day and did laundry at Birm. , then today I did 382 and stopped in Marion Il. cause I like the area , when I wake up I will decide if I want to do a 34 here or by chicago , either way isn't a problem . I thought you were a Yankee fan Nogg...

I'm from Houston. Total Astros. But i love baseball. I will watch anyone, especially if it prevents me from sitting in a truck needlessly for a weekend.
