In reading these posts it just makes me wonder about the critical importance attached to the BP issue. Genetics play A role in the " essential " elevated blood pressure syndrome. As I mentioned in an earlier post , at age 21 , 140 lbs. , I had elevated blood pressure. I was taking an FAA physical as required by the sky diving club I had joined. It was not A legal prerequisite, but suggested by the USPA , ergo , the club wanted it done. So , for over 40 years I have had this condition , but never suffered any of the dire consequences predicted by the medical profession. No kidney problems, no strokes, haven't vapor locked yet , engage in hard labor regularly , including ditch digging by hand , lifting/carrying 100 lbs. plus. No problems, no symptoms. I have younger brothers who already have had stents placed in arteries etc. , but thus far no problems with me. I took A beta blocker , Tenormin I think. I worked; took 10 to 15 beats / minute off your heart rate. If you started chaining down coils you would become winded, have sit down and rest. You would have trouble performing any strenuous tasks. I know the law is the law , but is has been said " the law is an ### ". It seems that having A man's livelihood hanging on something so arbitrary,so mercurial , is A sad commentary on how we have actually become George Orwell's " Animal Farm " , Big Brother is always watching. Another instance of formulating solutions in search of A problem, no doubt inspired by insurance companies who actually call the shots on who gets hired anyway. We are all different;we meet no " ordinary " people in our lives. Thank God there is some flexibility on this criteria; but it seems to be A universal area of dread. So much riding on some numbers that can fluctuate widely, due to A primal reaction to the threat. Just sayin'..........( reactions = fight , flight , freeze )
Have a question about blood pressure and some other stuff.
