    Hello,
Im in a job now where my take home pay is around 900 every two weeks. Ive been told by some people at a driving academy that starting out in the trucking industry my take home pay would be 700 to 900 a week... does this sound about right to you guys?

Not starting out . Do some research here . Typical pay for at least 4 to 6 weeks with a trainer is less than half that for 60-70 hour weeks . Then you might solo for less than 2,000 miles a week at less than $.30 a mile .
That's if you follow the herd to the megacarriers . There are better opportunities but it requires some real work job hunting .
Ask the recruiter for contact info on ALL graduates of a class from 6 months ago . I guarantee they won't give it to you .

some companies give you 450.00 a week for training some give 600.00 a week for training, depends on the quality of the company on what you make during training. Starting solo you can average 500.00-700.00 a week starting out, like i said depends on how much you work and the company you work for. I made about this when I started out.

Welcome to the party, and keep in mind that truck driving school recruiters and company recruiters are paid to get bodies in the seats, not tell the truth. The way the "starter companies" are running their drivers, you won't see that number for a while.

If you get the tanker/hazmat endorsements, a passport & TWIC, yes you can make that money as a new driver. Some companies that will hire new drivers right out of CDL school for tanker work are Schneider, Prime, Florida Rock & Tank, Comcar, Superior-Carriers, Miller Transporters. There are others also. Focus on being a tanker driver from day one.
