They are looking for local drivers and so I might be starting Monday. Can anyone tell me how they are?

If you mean New Century in Westhampton, NJ, I was talking to a driver at truck stop, late model equipment, all trucks have apu's, low turn over rate, driver seemed happy.

O ok. Any local drivers on here working for them? I'm wondering if local drivers unload? Do day cabs have qual comm and are drivers provided directions? How often do nc drivers go into nyc?

they will do a lot of 5 bourughs i beleive. queens long island bronx brookln. but thats normal with local driving around here. locally they pay hourly if i recall. think there trucks go about 67mph. you will most likely jump in a older columbia. which i rather take anyday over some newer trucks

do they provide directions for the drivers or leave it up to them to figure it out? Living in Nj, Ive had 3 local jobs already and never was dispatched to NYC. i dont know how I did it, but I managed to avoid NYC ( without turning runs down ) I dont neccessarily think thats a good thing, Bc I never know what my true capabilities are by not going.

I have no idea. I doubt they give u directions. ull just have to punch it in ur gps and call the customer if you get lost. ive been trucking locally in jerz for 8 years and never did nyc either but long island staten island queens Bronx Brooklyn and those area im sure you will see a lot with new century. no idea bout qaulcom or any details. I was following a new century thru conneticut today he was moving at about 68-72 mph didn't look like he was messin around. did u take the job? I know right by new century they have dunkin donuts and pfg(dedicated tgi Fridays) those both pay well but require more physical demand

I believe they grew up out of the Jevic bankruptcy a few years back.

Correct, the guy who started Jevic also started New Century after he sold Jevic, since then the owner of N/C has stepped down. I see very few N/C day cabs, my truck is goverend at 64 and N/C trucks pass me all the time, but then again so do little old ladies driving 25 year old Buicks.
