Hey Everyone, I'm going to start school a community college program for $1800 but I also applied for financial aid so I will not be paying all of it. The course is 320 hours and thats really good. I wanted to know after completing the course what are the good companies that will hire me. I'm currently looking at Crete because of the pay but I also wanted to know other great companies so I would know which one would be best fit for me.

Crete is dry van, but a good company (Crete also has refrigerated & flatbed)

Your best money will be with tanker or flatbed though. Lots of flatbed freight running through Nashville.

Good reefer company in Goodlettsville doing dedicated for Associated Grocers Warehouse; visit their transportation department & talk to them.

Prime has a dedicated reefer account with Walmart in Shelbyville.

Other good companies that hire new drivers living in Nashville:

    Melton Truck Lines (flatbed)
    Maverick (flatbed & refrigerated)
Falcon Transport (flatbed & dry van)
    Boyd Bros. (flatbed)

Give Schneider & Prime a call and ask if they have any tanker work that would benefit you living in Nashville.

    Welcome to the trucking life!

Thanks. And some tanker companies require 1 year experience. Like flatbed to but like refrigerated more. Crete and Prime both pay. And I want to start on Otr first to gain some experience

If the companies are great they don't have to resort to hiring CDL mill graduates . Great companies don't have a turnover over 100%

Check out Epes as well. Smaller company #### good to us can't really complain about much here but they're picky who they hire. Worth it if you can get in. #### good first year money too. Check with a recruiter see if your school is one their list they hire from. You're definitely going the right route doing the cc course and getting the hours in. You'll be glad you did.

When you apply, ignore the "experience required" and apply anyway. That's a little known secret, many good companies hire new drivers but don't advertise it.

I don't know enough about Heartland to give an opinion; just that it's dry van and with a few exceptions, the money isn't there with dry van. Epes may be one of the exceptions, but I personally don't know.

I tried to list companies that will provide a good living and benefits. Other than tanker, my first two choices on the list would be Melton Truck Lines and Maverick.

Some of those reefer outfits look pretty good running down the interstate with the chicken lights & chrome & I've done that also and made good money. You just never know about the waiting for unloading/loading/waiting for your dispatcher to find your next load. That's your decision though.

Study the websites, talk to drivers, as soon as you start school, start the applications.

You're also in the hiring area for National Carriers. A few years ago they were a good quality company; may have changed now, don't know, it's just another reefer outfit to look at.

Yeah I'd like to think epes is one of the exceptions. I made mid 40's first year and the miles and freight are there. the key is it's a smaller company. I can walk into dispatch and even the DM's I don't work for know my name and truck number without asking. That says alot. It's not perfect and we do have our issues but they're minor and manageable compared to these 10-20,000 truck outfits out here. We've only got about 800. Downsides are we're neutered at 63 and e-logs but you can't have everything I guess. I even got a brand new truck straight off my trainers truck and on my second brand new one now hehehe. There are a few good gigs put here just don't go with the usual suspects. Think smaller and think out of the box and you'll be rewarded
