    Hi guys.
I just became an O/O for the first time a few months ago. I'm up in the Northeast 75% of the time. I'm wondering what the best route around the New York city area is. e.g. heading north on 95. Would it be faster and cheaper to just use I287 around or is there another route thats more economical?

Also what is the best route in to NYC considering tolls and traffic and what not. I go to Jamaica, NY a few times a month to JFK Cargo. Thanks guys.

All depends where your going in the NE... if your heading to Mass, Maine, NH, or VT you can take I-287 to 87 over to 84 then to 90... All you would have to pay is the toll across the Newburgh Beacon Bridge which I believe is $10 bucks, could be wrong.

If your going to Rhode Island/Southern CT then yes I-287 back around to 95 would be the cheapest route in tolls even tho, you still have to pay $35 or $40 for the Tappan Zee..

Yeah most of the time I'm going to CT and thats the route I have been using. I guess I'm going to need to add the extra miles via 287 and the toll cost over the TZ bridge to my bids for runs up there. Thanks for the info Hawkjr.

Any advice on routes into NYC JFK? Whats the best bridge to get into NYC toll wise? Thanks

Actually it's 12.50. They charge 2.50 per axle for trucks. Cross it just about every day.

Good thats the cheapest from the bottom--in NYC itself-seems many I talk to got their 1st set of directions going over the GWB and never deviate--is why I asked
-Now depending on how far south your coming from you can save some more--for example if you are south of DC--u run 495 around west side--to 270--to 15 to 81--78-287-440-278
Less than 30 miles longer and no tolls till outerbridge--and although this has been talked about on many other threads--with alas too much argument--MANY of us still sneak of the island--over the 59th st bridge--into the Bronx and out for free.....Not as risky as some make it out to be--but...
    Good Luck
