You can't go wrong with Maverick. I picked them right out of CDL school. Best decision I ever made.

Heartland Express requires a 1 year experience to get hired with them. Im interested in applying with them but I dont know yet. Flatbed and tanker companies really make a lot of money. Right now Iam on the reefer side for a small company, and driving for a smaller company will make you more money. Good Flatbed companies are Maverick and Prime. Schneider is a good a company to. I like Crete to but they run dry van. I dont know much about Shaffer trucking but it is a refrigerated company.

I wanted some experience with reefer then after would move over to flatbed. National Carriers might not hire me if don't have experience. Shaffer I will check them out

Talk to Gashauler. There -are- a few good companies, such as a few tanker companies and smaller outfits, who will hire new drivers so as to train them as they want. Some companies look at it like this ... train them right the first time BEFORE they have a chance to develop any bad or unsafe habits. There aren't a lot but like anything else worth obtaining in life, you have to put in the work to find them and make it work for you.

Then.... DUH!!!!! You need to seriously look at MAVERICK Dude. You could maybe start in TCD (Temp Controlled Division) like you say you are interested, and then maybe later switch over to pulling a flatbed, AGAIN, like you say you are interested in.... BEST PART???? YOU WOULDN"T EVEN NEED TO SWITCH COMPANIES. You would simply stay with the same awesome company. I would think this would make your mind up right now.
