I have just under two years OTR experience, and was a trainer for one of the companies I drove for. Last fall I accepted a local driving job delivering concrete.
Things have slowed down and I got laid off due to lack of available work. I have been searching locally here in the Phoenix, AZ area with no luck. I am considering going back OTR due to a lack of jobs locally. I would greatly appreciate any ideas, suggestions, info on decent OTR companies please. Thank you.
Need suggestions of good companies to drive for please

What kind of driving are you looking to do reefer, flat, dry?
What kind of hometime are you looking for?
What cpm are you looking for? -
"decent OTR companies"?
No such thing...you'd have better luck looking for Jimmy Hoffa.
But based on where you live, you might want to check out Knight. Their HQ is in Phoenix. I haven't heard much about them, these days that is probably a good sign. -
I have done reefer and dry. Never done flatbed, but willing to consider it. As for pay, mid .30's per mile is ok, as long as I can get miles. I am more than willing to run my legal hours to get miles too. I know everyone has their issues with every company, I would like to find a company that treats thier drivers decently, doesn't try to micromanage, etc. As for hometime I have no problem being out 3-4 weeks at a time, as that's about what I was doing previously.

Seemed like an ok outfit to me. When I still lived in Vegas I was considering them. They only run the west, but you need to get hazmat when hired. -
Tru-Line out of Vegas, they run PHX a lot, as well as S.Ca. Duncan and Sons does containers to Long Beach. May/Heartland have terminals in PHX. Just a few to check out.

Thank you all for the suggestions so far.

Any tank experience? If so, one of the cryo outfits is good money. Praxair, Airgas, Linde, Air Liquide all are some of the better paying gigs out there, as long as you can deal with the regulations and other rules they have.

I know HO Wolding hires out of Arizona and you'll run out west. They've treated me well. You go to the yard every 20k miles for maintenance so there's an easy 3500 mile round trip. Lots of drop and hook out of Arizona as well. You'll probably start out at .34/mile but with big bonus that will add awe least an extra 1500 a quarter. I made 55k last year in my first year of driving. Hope this helps.

Also System Transport hires out of there I believe and has a regional. Will train you to skateboard.
