Looking for suggestions on road atlas software. Would like to find software for my laptop to help with trip planning, truck stops and what they offer, etc.

Also, if anyone knows of H.O.S software that would be great too.

i use trucklogger for my logs. most use drivers daily log. on there laptops. and there's one other i can't think of.

truckmiles.com is a free websight. it plots your route, and tells you where the truckstops are along your route. and i think even gas prices.

if you have a smartphone. there are tons of free apps for truckstops, walmarts, rest areas, cat scales and truckwashes. one app even has the dot scales. and there's an app called bigroad for logs.

    CoPilot Truck for planning

    Eclipse for logs.

Share one GPS antenna between the two using GPS Gate, which come free with Eclipse.

Just re-read your OP. It has the truck stops, but not "what they offer." To know what amenities they offer in the truck stop, you would need something else, like a Rand GPS, a Garmin GPS, an internet connection, a smart phone, or a truck stop book.

I use Streets & Trips with the Truck Stops Plus overlay. Unlike Motor Carrier Road Atlases, Streets & Trips has street level mapping for every place in the USA and Canada and the Truck Stops Plus overlay adds all the truck stops, truck washes, rest areas, parking areas, weigh stations, Wal-Mart Supercenters, etc to Streets & Trips and also gives you the ability to look up Restricted Routes and Low Clearances among other things. I also use Google Earth to look up my shippers and receivers. Then I place a pushpin into my shippers and receivers truck entranceways and then access the pushpin properties in Google Earth to copy and paste the GPS coordinates into Streets & Trips. In that way, Streets & Trips provides turn-by-turn directions right into my shippers and receivers truck entranceways. Once set up in this way, I also save them in Streets & Trips for when I have to go back to them again in the future. I've also already setup all my company terminals and drop lots in this way as well.

By the way, the Truck Stops Plus also provides all the amenities and everything else you need as well.

Can you point me in the direction of the overlay? If this is one I can purchase I will be doing so. I did a quick search and came up empty.
