i try not to park parallel to other trucks if other parking is available. signal strength does drop with distance so even being 15 feet away would diminish it.

Actual pure satellite usage in the trucking industry is getting less and less common. That is where the signal is sent and received directly from the vehicle to outer space and back. Qualcomm, once the only player in the market has all but given up on the service because of the cell phone/GPS based alternatives. If you are concerned about overdosing on electromagnetic impulses, you might as well live under a rock. And sure as hell don't even think about going in and out of Canada. Beep.

Actually this is a good question so I'll rephrase it. What companies don't use satelites and or e logs? Some of us old school drivers don't need babysitting to do our job.

the information is everywhere. i was not looking for it but I just came across this today. of course you probably know more than this doctor.

    • Electromagnetic fields: Work by Dr. Dietrich Klinghardt suggests there are distinct correlations between a woman's exposure to electromagnetic fields during pregnancy and her child's neurological functioning. He found that if you sleep in strong electromagnetic fields during pregnancy, your child will likely begin to exhibit neurological abnormalities within the first two years of life, such as neurological dysfunction, hyperactivity, and learning disorders. In 2007, this theory received additional support from a study published in the Journal of the Australasian College of Nutritional & Environmental Medicine.[SUP]4[/SUP] It presented the theory that electromagnetic radiation (EMR) from cell phones, cell towers, Wi-Fi devices and other similar wireless technologies may work in conjunction with genetic and environmental factors, becoming an accelerating factor in autism.
After more than five years of research on children with autism they found that EMR negatively affects cell membranes, encouraging heavy metal toxins, which are associated with autism, to build up.

I'll bet you'll see more and more of them make the switch as they become more affordable.

Less expensive to send info via a GSM or CDMA mobile phone network too I'd imagine. The teletracs system in my truck also doubles as GPS guidance that downloads truck geared routing on the fly from the servers so I don't need a second gps unit.

Every once in a while the ##### in the box doesn't give me the right route but between google maps, my gps and my commercial road atlas, I get by.
