Hello ya'll, within the last week or so, I have been tryin to get some answers from Schneider about my questions. Both times I wrote them in a Email and they told me to call the recruiting number. Then when I called the recruiting department it seemed like they did not know what they were talking about. Has anyone else had a problem with this?

It's been a while since I was recruited but I don't remember having any problems at all. All the recruiters were great. You could ask your questions here, we could help I am sure.

Is it true that it is up to your supervisor to tell you that you can bring your truck home for hometime?

    Ask for a different recruiter.

I think so. There is no way I could park a truck at home so it is not a problem for me.

I'm just getting back into trucking after several years away from it. Finished CDL school (again) and Schneider was the first company I applied to, a week ago today. Since then I've spoken to several different recruiters at Schneider and finally was told I need to speak with Mitch in NC (I live in VA). Well Mitch hasn't been returning my calls or emails so guess I'll go with one of the other companies I applied to over the last couple days and who have already offered me a job...

Schneider may use a independent recruiting company which is why you can't get a straight answer. JB Hunt uses a recruiting company. The recruiter only receives his commission when the driver shows up for orientation. Not uncommon for 60 people to show up at JB and 50% get sent home the second day because the recruiter lied. JB starts their background checks when the driver shows up for orientation. Most smaller companies with their own recruiters take the driver info, answer driver questions and do the background check first. All the driver has to do is is pass the physical to be hired. I recently called a mega carrier asking for information. I was honest but never received the info. I would rather not get the info than have false hopes of being hired.

Yea that is very true. I contacted two recruiters at maverick and they both gave me straight forward answers.

As far as taking your truck home, as long as you are not applying for one of the plans where you only work 3 weeks a month or some dedicated accounts and you live more than 50 miles from a terminal/drop yard, you can take the truck home. At least that was the policy in Atlanta, because I took my truck home and I lived 64 miles from Atlanta. hope that helps.
