Hey all, well recently had my trucks transmission go out on me for the second time in 2 and a half years and being an older truck it was not worth the fix. Due to my financial and credit standings I had to take an offer i couldnt refuse on a 2007 Chevy Cobalt.. needless to say not thrilled and will be getting a new truck in the next couple years, but for the time being this is what ive got.
Now the battery for the cobalt is in the trunk, i also am mounting my antenna on the trunk. I am running a Cobra 29 LX with an rm itally amp and a wilson 2k antenna. My question is can i run my antenna cable and power cable side by side without issue? I run a power line directly to the batter to power both the CB and the amp, i forget what grade wire im using, but i remember its a high end wire very well coated with thick coating, and the antenna cable i run is thicker than the standard thin antenna cable, just thicker due to more coating as well. so again will everything be ok if i run the cables together side by side since i am running both of them from the trunk area? Thank you in advance for your input!
running power cable and antenna cable together ok?

There should not be a problem, though I hope that you are putting the amp in the trunk near the battery...
Danger07 Thanks this. -
should i just put the amp in the trunk then run wires for a toggle switch to turn it on and off? I had that thought but i know how those amps can heat up so I thought during those hot summer days itd be better to have it in the cab area where I am getting more air flow to it. I also thought I should keep it as close to the radio as possible especially since ill have a swr meter running inline between the am and antenna. In my truck I used a 3 foot jumper inbetween my radio and amp then another 3 ft jumper between the amp and swr meter, then a longer antenna cable from the meter to the antenna. In my truck I used a 12' wire to the battery, with a 50A fuse near the battery, and a (I think) 30A fuse next to the amp, but I also use that power line for my cb too, so having the amp in the trunk would require running a separate power line for each Item.

I keep the amp up front near the radio. I'd want my power wires to be 8 gauge wire also.Danger07 Thanks this.

If you have little or no CMC ( common mode current ) running power and antenna cable/wire together is fine. http://www.k0bg.com/common.html
Danger07 Thanks this.
