I hired on with Transport America in there pro-plus program. Well they sent me home to wait on a trainer. They issued me stuff like straps and etc. then turn around and fired everyone in the pro-plus program because they claim to be shutting down that part of there program. Then I was told by David Sparks the boss at IN that I would receive pay for orientation and the days that I sat waiting on a trainer. Well guess what! I got SCREWED big!!!! Them fools paid be nothing so I called the main office and explained the situation and the still refuse to pay me. DO NOT WORK FOR THEM!!! They have an issue with paying there drivers. They also require that you park your truck with trailer attached during hometime. You can not unhook without there permission! The company is also very small. At first it looks like a good company to work for but payday rolls around then you get screwed. Just thought y'all should know what to look forward to if you plan to drive for these fools! If other TA Drivers had this problem please post. I would like to see if others got screwed too.

    More than likely waiting.

The pro-plus program was for new drivers <6 months experience. They are still offering training to inexperienced drivers. It doesn't make sense that they would turn away drivers with limited experience. You sure there isn't more to this story?

No. That is the story. Or a least that is what I was told anyway. I guess they are short on trainers. But still makes no sense in why they have fired everyone in the pro-plus program. I wish I knew the truth about that. I still have not been paid. It has been almost a month now. I called and they refuse to pay me because they say I did not get a dispatch, but they did not stick to there part about training me either. They just simply fired me. All well they are just fools in my opinion.

been here 10 years they have payed me just fine found 1 time they didnt pay me for a driver unload called them they put it on my next check dispatch said sorry forgot to check that box. they dont even have to do that now you are paid from the computer it comes threw the computer in your truck look at it if your driver unload isnt on there tell them right then they will fix it.
here is something that happened years ago
they tried to change dispatch programs and burned up the main fram.... they couldnt tell anybody where to go or what to do....
some drivers at a term. sat out on the picnic table holding signs WILL WORK FOR FOOD the computer was down for 3 days! term. mananger found them something to do they sent them to fedx lol me hmmm now to think of it i was in my first year of driving when this happened i was in appleton wi. sat there all 3 days too. i was just up the road from fedx i just didnt know i could run lol
PAY PROB.they cant pay drivers if they have no info in the computer so what they did is took the last 6 weeks you worked and paid you that. they adjusted it 2 weeks latter added to it or took back what they overpaid you but in a nut shell anyother co. wouldnt have done that.
the guy thats having this prob. with pay there is more to it than what i am hearing. ok maybe not but i bet there is
last week a student failed the written test. student was upset gave the fuel card to safety got in his car and spun out of the drive way laying rubber at 60 miles an hour. then calls and wants another chance lol fat chance thats going to happen.
if you went threw the school you were hired they dont just fire everybody because hmmmm been here 10 years and never seen it hope things turn out for you

I drove for TA for a little over a year, at first, I loved them and to tell you the truth I miss working for them. I never had a problem getting paid , I got home exactly when I wanted to get home , I was making money and actually got a brandy new truck . Had the best dispatcher anyone could ask for . BUT .....their safety dept SCREWED ME , I was told by my trainer that if you run hard and do the right thing they will soon look for ways to get rid of you because you will start costing them money , they want those 27cpm drivers . Well he was right . I m now dealing with having 5 accident /incidents on my DAC none of the things that Rick and Jeff put on my DAC should be there and they are about to have there eyes opened .. After about my 3rd run in with the safety boys , I found out that transport America is DAC happy and will charge you with all kinds of crap why ??? because they can . oh yea and by the way , they were takin over by a investment CO . Need I say more
I would stay away from them if you want to keep a clean DAC .:biggrin_25516:

I went to TA orientation when I frist got my CDL and I have to say that from what I saw, it seemed like a good company to work for. Class room instructor was great, they fed us well, clean hotel rooms etc. I didn't make it out to train, so I can't say how good or bad that was. While I was there I got an extream case of home sickness.

After I got back home, I knew the job wan't going to be for me, so I called TA and told them I wasn't going to be able to be an OTR trucker like I had hoped because I just missed my family too much. They totally understood and were happy to pay me for the orientation and put nothing on my DAC. Now I have a local job driving a six axle dump and I really enjoy it, so it worked out well in the end and I'm glad they understood my situation.

I went to orientation for Transport America with the understanding that I would be on the 14 out and 7 home program. all through the orientation I was double checking that that was the position I was going to get. after orientation I was told that I would not be on that but on the regular otr position, I told them that is not what I was recruited for and that I didn't want that position. I was told that was what I am on and either do it or not work for them, so I declined to work for them at that time. now on my DAC report it shows that I was terminated from them. I never accepted the keys to a truck and turned the job offer down how was I terminated?
