I am wondering what DCS accounts they have in the Brattleboro, VT area and what the life of a driver is like. I know it depends on which account they put you on. I am hoping for something with a pretty set routine.
A few general questions....
Do you actually make 1000+/week? Do they expect you to always be maxing out on your hours or working irregular shifts to do this?
What is their attitude regarding winter weather? I am not a total wuss about it but I have my limits and do not like getting stranded in some daycab out in the middle of nowhere.
Do you they let you take the truck home?
Is the DCS work pretty easy for an experienced driver to get down or are they always wanting something more?
Does the electronic logs make your life better or worse?
Do you have to sign a contract??
I have experience with Local P&D/Linehaul, Regional TL/LTL, OTR LTL... And don't mind physical work or being outside.
Thanks for the info!!

The only DCS trucks I see over there are grain and I see a guy pulling trailer frames.

Well for winter driving you are the captain of your ship they leave it up to and they do have guidlines for when they say you should shut down as a guide if you feel the road is to unsafe to drive then park it . Yes you will make 1000 a week how many hours it takes depends on what the account pays some are better than others .some accounts let you take the truck and some don't I take my truck home but other drivers are not allowed to depends on the account . The work is pretty easy to get down some accounts are harder than others but they will have a base line that you can easily meet .no contracts you are getting hired on as a regular company driver the only training you will get is account specific and you will get paid for it . I like the electronic logs its less paperwork to deal with my only complaint is it can be a pain when they crash on you .

The work in Brattleboro is for C&S Wholesale delivering to grocery stores. Not bad work, home most every day. The trucks will roll regardless of what JB Hunt's snow policy is. It's food and WILL get delivered to the stores. As for they pay, I don't see why you couldn't make $1000 plus most every week and run legal. Major holidays are very busy so expect to use all your available hours leading up to a holiday. I doubt the trucks will be going home with the drivers, they need the trailers back to load for the next day. They also have to slip seat, more drivers than trucks, better usage of equipment. All in all it would be a good job for you if you live in the area and don't mind pulling pallets at stores.

You won't be stranded in the middle of no where, most of the work is multiple stops around NYC .

Most of the NYC deliveries are done out of Hatfield MA and Westfield MA. Thats not to say Brattleboro drivers don't go to NYC. Knowing the store chains and the product delivered out of Brattleboro I can say 70% of their runs are not NYC.
