Engine year is normally one year behind chassis model year.
If you have a 2007 MY chassis, it's better than not it will be a 2006 EY.
And there are alzo what's known as "bridge engines." Those engine where a new technology hit a market and it could go either with old technology late or new technology early.
what do you guys think about this truck i found??????????

buddyvuk Thanks this. -
yes.yes. very easy to use. NOT the electronic resistor, this one uses vacuum . -
So Im guessing that is why the CARB says all '07 emissions compliant engines are permissable through next year? I have a C15 CAT in an '07 T600 and its the NXS serial number and stamped 2007, no DPF BS on there at all....its the same as my '05 BXS... -
EPA10 compliant engines would have EGR/DPF/DEF. These are 2010 EY in 2011 MY trucks.
EPA07 compliant engines would have EGR/DPF. These are 2007 EY in 2008 MY trucks.
EPA04 compliant would only have an EGR. These are 2004 EY in 2005 MY trucks.
EY = Engine Year
MY = Model Year
At each of those years, there are bridge engines. They could have more or less of the emissions.buddyvuk Thanks this. -

Be carefull on low mileage trucks, always have the ECM mileage checked. The speedometer mileage really doesnt mean a thing. Once you get the ecm mileage take the last 8 numbers of the truck serial number and have a dealer check it for work performed and see if if the mileage is compatable. The one thing you might run into is finacing, is that it is still a 07 model and they may limit the months they will finace it for leaving a fairly large monthly payment.
I was a manager at a Freightliner dealership for a long time and have seen trucks with new ECMs and speedometers that why I suggest doing extra checks.
It is possible under some warranty plans that the diffs and Trans may still be under factory warranty on this unit also, you would have to check the in service date and see what warranty plan the unit came with.
Good luck.buddyvuk Thanks this. -

Went today and drove it...I liked it .
Its penske truck , one company had it , 1 driver drove it. I called the company who had it , they maintained it on time and all. Penske would let me do ecm and dyno check if i decide to buy it. I offered 39k cash , and they said HELL NOO.. i then offered 40k my last price ...they said no again. I will keep calling everyday ..until they say yes . haha
man i really liked this truck... suxxxxx they wont take 40 for it ... they told me last price is 44k .... but i cant pay that much .... i got 40 for truck and 7 for trailer ....
I am not taking on any trailer payments , screw that. -
Would pass on 14l if was a 12.7 yeah 14l never get as good mpg as 12.7 that 14l will get low to mid fives might get into sixes with tail wind and down hill and its at it mileage for egr problems to start surfacing walk away there's plenty other trucks that are better and cheaper just my 2 cents.
