Not to get to far off track here, but let me ask....if you were provided with good service, why do you not condone double brokering?
Anyone else notice landstar becoming TQL #2 ?

Yes Inway, not Ranger, was slightly above the threshold, but managed to bring it back down. 58% is good to the FMCSA. Not real good, but decent.
According to the TCA, Landstar is the number 1 large O/O company in the country. That alone makes them being a cut above fact. Then there are the thousands of BCOs that have been here over 20 years. Some over 40 years, 15 or more years than LS has even existed. They must be doing something right. My domicile Agency started with Ranger January 2, 1973. People don't stay around if the deal isn't good. -
Are you a broker, a 3PL, or a shipper? You should know that you get the service you ask for. Never assume you will get the highest service, if you never request it. I can safely assume that your commodity was valued at less than $100,000, as that is the cut off between brokerable and non-brokerable, unless the shipper requests LS only trucks.
BTW, I admit that we do have SOME Agents that are not always on the up and up and I don't deal with them. -
My customer expects me to provide quality service for X amount of dollars. If I have a carrier base in tact that has a reputation of providing quality service, then what is the guarantee that I will get that on a double brokered carrier. It`s about customer service. Like I said in my original post, I had loads double brokered to carriers that were blacklisted. Luckily they delivered with no problems this go around, but why take the chance.

I am very well aware you get what you pay for. That's why we are not your CH or TQL of the worlds. I will not lowball someone and expect them to negotiate up to where I`m still making a fortune. We pay our carriers good money because we expect good service. Theres a lot of value in building a good relationship with carriers. It makes both parties more successfullovesthedrive and aiwiron Thank this.

So, are you a broker, or 3PL? I am going to have to assume 3PL, until you answer differently. 3PL freight can be brokered out, legally, as the 3PL is seen as the shipper's transportation agent, not the shipper's broker.
Your idea and someone else's idea, including mine, of "Good Money" may vary.
BTW, we have many customers that specifically state that their loads may not be brokered and they are not. But, they know they have to state that, they do not assume. -
We are a 3PL . You may be mistaken though about the legalities of what's broker able. If a carrier signs off on our contract that has a SUB-CONTRACT PROHIBITION agreement clause, then that is a legal document. You are correct about what`s good money to some may not be for others. I will say we offer solid market rates. Better ?aiwiron Thanks this.

Ahh yes the survey. A company has 35 gazillion drivers. The company cherry picks a few of the happy drivers and asks them to complete a survey. Voila! Best fleet.
Never said it wasn't a good deal for the agents. Crooked agents are a large part of the problem. The other part is Jacksonville backs them up and is only concerned about their bottom line.
As they told while my truck was sitting at customs for 7th hour and no end in sight, "I can see you are not at fault, but if Landstar loses money on this load because we have to pay you detention, you will never haul Landstar freight again". Oh yeah, great company.
Another time Jacksonville withholds multiple carrier settlements unless carrier agrees to take a 20% cut in the agreed rate? Oh yeah, great company.
What they are is a pack of lying thieves.VisionLogistics Thanks this. -
Ok, now we are getting somewhere. If the Agent did indeed sign off on your contract, with the non-brokerable clause in it, I would say that Agent screwed the puppy. That is that Agent, not all of LS, as our Agents are not employees, but Independent Contract Agents, as all the trucks are Independent Contractors. Did you deal with one of our smaller Agents, or one of the large agencies. If a large agency, did you deal with the owner of the agency, or did you deal his employees?

How does a company get best fleet if they are over threshold? That's a laugh.
