That's about when I should be getting ready to go out with a trainer. Start school on Monday three weeks here in Sac then down to Fontana for Orientation I am guessing that is about a week which puts me at the 6th to be out with a trainer. SO anyone know why Sacramento is three weeks when everywhere else is two?
PSUMoose what are the requirements to upgrade from trainee to Solo? Is it just hours? Or Just skills? Or Both? Sorry to keep asking so many questions just can't wait to get started and post what Sac is like on here.

I'm looking forward to hearing what the Sac school is like. To upgrade from trainee to solo you need to be with your trainer for 28 days, 200 driving hours, AND 40 backs. There is also a workbook to do but the major requirements are the days, hours, and backs.
Once you complete those you will go to the closest terminal (SLC, Fontana, or Conoly) there will be a written skills test (basicly your workbook), a trip planning test, driving test, backing test, and depending onhow the tester feels you may be required to put on chains, slide 5th wheel/tandems, and/or do a pretrip.
Hope that helpsCorsair4me and Tats Man Thank this. -
That's the type of info I've been asking for w/o results. Nice to plan for what you will encounter, when possible. Thx again.

Thanks for the shout out and sorry about skipping out yesterday. Things are still rolling right along. Lots of practice testing and information given from our instructor. We went to the Utah Department of Licensing today and I think 10 out of 11 passed or something like that. You get two chances if you need them and if you still don't pass you can pay $20 and get 2 more tries tomorrow so don't make it more stressful than it needs to be. Oh, It costs $40 in Utah so that's not bad.
Anyway, hopping in some trucks tomorrow! Nice!!! -
Cool!! OH cost me $27 for permit. Wanted it for experience anyways. Each state forms q's differently. Passing is all that counts. Are the tests computer based & can u skip q's & come back. OH once u hit 80% it stops & u pass.

HAs anyone else taken the sample tests on this site? I read the CA CDL manual and have been scoring between 85% and 95% on the practice test are they that close to the real thing?
Also Thanks PSUmoose you have been a world of information for me, really appreciate it.arata954 Thanks this. -
Practice are gd here. OH was more detailed inbsome respects & worded to trip u up. Examiners even stated that before I started. GK was higher degree of difficulty than air & combo. GK. had q's about busses. Curious opinions about UT. I've taken crists also. I just stay at them to help my learning. Oh yeah. When I transfer back to OH have to take GK again! That's why I'll still keep at it til it's like breathing.
