This company called Bay and Bay wants to hire me out of school. They said they pay 33 cents per mile. Is this considered low pay or is this what I should expect being a new driver?
What's the going rate on cents per mile for new drivers?

That depends......pay per mile is just part of it. Consider how many mi per week/benefits/equipment etc also.

That's pretty good pay for a new driver....BUT
You have to make sure they are going to have lots of work for you to do!
That's not good pay if they only give you 1500 miles a week!
I started out with Schneider at 28cpm...got a 3cpm raise at 6 months and another 3cpm raise at 12 months.
I make 34cpm now..and average 2500 per week....2800 during busy periods.
I know with Schneider...as with all big carries....I may not get the great cpm, BUT....they have tons of customers and lots of loads year round.
I almost always have a load waiting for me before I'm done with my current load.
Also...consider their other benefits
Healthcare, vacation, 401k..ect -
.33 cpm is about average. Ask other questions about pay also : stop pay, layover pay, detention pay, average miles per week. Also, the benefit package.
I checked their website; looks like plenty of opportunities with the company; van, reefer, flatbed, tanker-dry bulk, intermodal. May be a good start for you.mje Thanks this.
