@CenutryClass, you seem to have it pretty good out there, unlike XBY huh? Wish I could pass up runs... theres a few terminals I hate going too, like our Providence terminal, 212 miles of complete boringness, really really really dark at night too, worse than 84. And our burlington run, its our longest turn/run but its also the hardest we got last 100 mile two lane highway, 50 miles of back roads... if we go there from Plattsburgh or Canada, we have to take a ferry over lol, they allow the trucks on it. Also not a fan of the Syracuse run either. Harrisburg is a nice run, too much construction going on 81 and 84 with one lanes. I dont get why they work on the highway parts that DONT need work but leave the crummy areas alone. On i84 in NY theres a part you can set the cruise control, let go of the wheel and take a nap and the highway will steer the truck for you... the twin screws are better at it and not as bad.
@Squonk she doesnt do anything for me, normally there is a blonde behind a desk, she can get quite #$%^6& but i'd hit it, You woud ove the Manchester, NH terminal FOS, for a mid 40's woman she looks really good! If I was single Id ask if she had a daughter lol. But I got it good now, m girl comes to my place when Im off work, we do our business, then she makes food, cleans and leaves lol. Although shes in Croatia for the next 3 weeks so I will have to be good, at least we got the webcams to chat
@Skinny well thats good. Now that I think of it I wouldnt mind trying triples out once. Heck even turnpike doubles, heard they dont wiggle as much. The other day I spoke to a guy who pulls them. His company doesnt pay him much t do it though. its 40cpm van, and if you do the doubles its 48cpm, and like 17 a hour hourly when doing so... I told him m numbers and I thought he was going to have a heart attack... He did say that the turnpike doubles dont wiggle as much as the pups do. I have to say though the single screws seem to pull better than the twin screws but the twin screws get a lot better traction. Plus Im sure your freight shaker blows that volvo away in power as well
@aka big country I know nothing about Holland. There is a guy on this thread who was just hired by them, hes our first Holland guy. Ive been with YRC for a year now nd have down everything, switching, P/D, dock, and now Line-Haul. My first terminal was a small one so if they needed me to switch or do the dock I had too if no one wanted it because I was the jr man on the list. Im still fairly new to the teamsters, Skinnytrucker has been with them a long time and can help you more with them. But I will have to say thanks to the teamsters they got me back my job TWICE (Layoff never been fired) First time I was layed off in October, I was on layoff for 2 weeks till hurricane Sandy came and we lost 4 days of work due to no power. SO they brought me and the guy below me who wasnt on the teamster list yet, orignally just to help clear everything up since we were on soft layoff, but ended up being put back on fully. Right before he made he made the list they got rid of him, then we had two layoff dockmen become drivers. After the new year they layed off 3 of us on a hard layoff. They brought one guy back the 2nd week to work the dock, and the next he was back on the street, then they were bringing back another guy and I was next, but the guy above me is still on the dock, and sometime driving. SO after about two months of layoff one guy who transferred at last years change of operations found out there were guys on layoff and told my terminal now, to which they said get them up here, we got plenty of work. I was the only one to go, but it was 60 miles away from me, the others is ike 80+. Ive since moved up here, been making A LOT more money than I ever though of, Im making more than my mother, close to my step father(masters degree too lol) but not as muc as my dad(owns construction business). The Teamsters allowed me to fully transfer, I will say I work my @#$ off, past few weeks, I havent had a chance to blink, this week I was using up all 11-14 hours every day, getting 450+ miles, and LOTS AND LOTS of hook time. So lets say the teamsters were there for me.
Now are you looking to do City P/D or line-haul?? On line-haul most likely you will stay out overnights but in hotels, nice ones usually too. Im fortuanate to be at a terminal where we got a lot of turns that get us home every night. Been here 2 months and stayed out 3 times
