Solo clutch install, fork hitting pressure plate.

We actually put an entire new assembly up there, slave cylinder and all. And then tried the old one. It actually seems like the distance between the throw out bearing and the pressure plate is less than the thickness of the fork. You have to force the fork in to place.

With the pedal fully depressed, I can still rock the clutch brake. It is close but isnt clamping it.

Then you have an issue with the slave cylinders most likely check if one is leaking inside or doesn't have enough fluid either that or the pin is not the right length

Hey Damage I was just wondering if you solved the fork hitting clutch problem. Reason I ask is it happened to me today. I am a licensed truck and auto mechanic and have done a solo clutch on the same model Volvo last year which is a heavy haul float truck and its working great. Installed solo into same model Volvo today and found clutch was not adjusting enough for brake, pedal felt stiffer then normal, and after short road test the new fork is hitting clutch housing. Called Volvo parts and he verified clutch and fork were correct to this vehicle. If you found solution it could save me from removing trans on Monday. Also tried to slide indicator back to reset position moved slightly then locked up?

Hey Bowtie, Yes we did find the solution to our problem. The mechanic that did the install had installed the clutch incorrectly. I cant remember which, but either a friction plate or the intermediate plate was backwards. He had the flywheel side facing away from the engine. Hope this helps.

Well thanks for writing back its not the answer I hoped for but it is an answer. I guess tranny comes out Monday and I'll see if it is the same or not. I've never installed a disk wrong yet but theres first time for everything. Thanks for the idea.

Well two hours this morning and I had the trans pulled back. Lucky for my ego all components were installed properly and also checked for correct direction of the stamping (Have had a clutch in the past that had disk stamped wrong). Concluded that something wrong with the adjustment mechanisim internally. We didn't want to wait another three days for another solo and I still don't trust the reliability of them I installed a easy pedal quick adjust. It set up perfect as always and I'll take for a run in morning.
