    I've been driving this Volvo for about four mos. now. As I said in an initial post, my average load weight is 47,000 lbs plus. I do Canyon Creek Pass, Stage Pass, Smith Pass, Sexton Pass, The Siskiyous and the Grapevine down, then turn around and go back up to Oregon driving those same grades.

    My average overall fuel mileage is right at 7.1 mpg right now with this Volvo D13 and iShift.

    Not too shabby if you ask me.

    I dont know, I hear Volvo are really trying for the last few years to bring the quality of it's euro cousins across the water, they seem to be sorting out the engines this side and the ishift is a well proven gearbox ( 10 years old in Europe and a new double clutch version out ) I personally owned two euro volvos and I can tell you hand on heart the only parts I bought for them in 5 years each were bulbs , other than that it was regular servicing, sold them wil 1m on the clock, compared to the cummins and cat engines in the trucks the company I drive for now, constantly breaking down especially with regen problems, I have experience with older cummins and cats as we used have them in erf and Foden trucks and they were excellent but these newer ones aren't a patch on their predecessors . I don't think 500,000 will be a problem in a d13, could be a serious issue in a paccar engine, and do I have experience with those!

    It's amazing how a reputation sticks!

    I'll have over 500000 kms on it and don't expect any problems, I just want to order the next one so I can get some of the options and specs just as I want it. I figure it will still be worth a good dollar for trade and it will be paid off, and I like new stuff!

    You should easily get another 500,000 without any major issues

    I don't want to advertise Volvo trucks,their service sux, but are not as bad as you think;

    I got it new in july 2007, Volvo 780,D13 model 2008, running team for Celadon Canada,as you can see i have close to 1.1 mil miles, original motor(i replaced injectors in 2009 / Volvo recall and turbo this week); i wasted $$ in emission repairs, and Volvo services sux, but even at this high milage is great on fuel;
    Some road photos in this bunch from my photobucket.
