Thanks for chiming in Ridgeline,
You have a very good point, and yes it's hard to walk away from this kind of money, but I've been hearing nothing but $60k-$70k-$100k in the oil driving business?!?!?!
(Starting on the lower end of course)
There's got to be truth in $ome of the madne$$!
I understand that "a good plan" would be in order;
1) Complete CDL (with endorsements) in Vegas
2) Drive RV down or get cheap place to start
3) Apply with confidence, ability to fulfill & plenty of "hold on till pay day ca$h"!!!
4) I've heard it Helps if you know some good references, have a local cell phone number & address
Ps; not yet quit my current job either
Great jobs in Texas

whelp got everything done with chalk mountain services so far except the drugtest and driving test. pay is 18 and hr, you avegage between 58-68 hrs a week , 1500 sign on bonus is payed out in 500 portions.the only thing that sucks is working the overnight shift 6pm-6am might pass it up because of that right there. i dont mind doing 14 hour days but i prefer working day shift for social reasons.

Yes If you change to a Texas CDL you will have redo only the hazmat your tanker.Doubles/Triples will be ok

You'll most likely have to work nights wherever you go. It's very common to start on nights around here.
-
Oilfield is 24/7 and more than likely you will start on night shift unless you are with some small specialized outfit. I prefer nights in summer. Lot cooler. But we unload whenever they call.

Don, I am heading to Midland this coming week and I'm sure I'll secure some decent driving job. My question to you is what are the average shifts?
On 14 off __? On 21__ off ? I've heard all sorts of combinations. But what's the real deal? Once I am married with my "start up oil company". Will I be allowed to take off a few "SPECIAL DAYS" FOR A FAMILY REUNION.
I'm sure u don't know about 'every' company, but if you could shed some lite on the industry normal... like "starting nites.
Much appreciative... -
You will most likely find a job hauling water cause those tend to be abundant. Most water hauling companies will work 4 days on 2 off or 5 and 2 or 6 and 2. You'll usually work 12-14 hr shifts and make between 16-20 per hour starting out. The benifits aren't very good with most water hauling companies but the ones I've worked for have always been cool with me taking a day off here and there.
MadMax17 and superpet39 Thank this.
