No doubt, conastago trailers make the job easier but what about the cost.
I ain't got 60k for a new trailer, and really don't want the payment. My equipment is paid for and making money. How many extra loads do you need to make the payments on a new 60k trailer.
You might say the tarp pay will make the payments. But does it make the payments when you take time off or when things are slow?

Things are so much nicer when all my equipment is paid off.

Tarping? How many times have you heard it's figured in the rate?
    I don't mind tarping a $3.00 a mile load!

    pretty simple really.

Your company is making enough off the account to make it worthwhile and you can't find a better gig or you would be gone.

When I was otr I got paid to tarp AND to untarp. Also, got paid to tarp and untarp on multi-stop loads. One load I had 4 stops and made $178 in one day just from tarp pay

I would have to say that atleast half of my loads this year maybe more have been OW. With that being said i do not mind tarping at all. Yes it is a PITA but hey its part of the job. Also i do not get a "set rate per tarp". We get it on all miles which in the long run can work out to be a better deal. I get .04 cpm on all miles so if i go a month or more (which i have) with out tarping it works out in my favor.

lol you tell'em . I'll do 4ft drop all day long. But if I have to break out my 120lbs 8ft with flaps. I'm not happy but, I won't let it keep me from making money.

Sorry but I gotta call BS on this. If you feel good about tarping, great! But really, big dang deal! Pesonally I think it sucks and it isn't a merit of the job saying it makes you a better driver or anything even close to it.

I heard one driver tell another that it's a natural thing for a truck driver to smoke cigarettes when he was complaining about the smell in the truck. Your comment or better yet judgement on this guy for not liking to tarp is on par with the smoking comment and makes about as much sense.

And another thing, it's whine if you're crying about something and wine if you're drinking it.
